Drew Barrymore got candid about her body insecurities.
Barrymore, 51, opened up about how undergoing two C-sections impacted her confidence, revealing that she feels “wrecked” during a Monday, April 6, episode of her namesake show. While discussing clothing items during a “Scared to Wear” segment, Barrymore fought back tears as she discussed her self-image and scars.
“The other day I was walking down the street, and I’ve had two C-Sections, and I’m so wrecked down there,” she told the audience.
“I can’t wear a lot of different types of pants,” Barrymore, who shares two children, Olive, 13, and Frankie, 11, with ex-husband Will Kopelman, added. “But the other day I was walking around, and I had this shorter shirt on, and I couldn’t keep my jacket closed. And I was walking around like ‘I don’t want anyone to see this.’”
She continued, “And I so get when you have kids, and you have a busy life, and your body changes and you get older, and things just aren’t the same. I totally get it.”
Barrymore previously opened up about aging during a March episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, where she discussed menopause symptoms.
“I can’t even start today without being honest because I can’t fake anything,” she said while opening the show. Barrymore continued, joking, “I am so bloated that I feel like some carp that got brought up to the beach and I’m just that dead fish.”
When her cohost Ross Matthews asked if she did anything over the weekend to make her feel bloated, Barrymore shared that she got her period for the first time in nearly a year.
“I was about to hit my one-year mark for my period and get right into menopause where I belong,” she said. “I got it.”
“I got it. I’m at 11 months,” she noted. “So I go back down to zero.”
The 50 First Dates star welcomed her daughters in 2012 and 2014 with Kopelman, 47.
Barrymore and Kopelman began dating in 2011 and got engaged in January 2012. In June of that year, they tied the knot before welcoming Olive three months later. The parents again expanded their family two years later when Frankie was born.
In 2016, Barrymore and Kopelman announced their separation in a joint statement. “Sadly our family is separating legally, although we do not feel this takes away from us being a family,” they wrote at the time. Later that year, their divorce was finalized.
