Dorinda Medley’s time on The Traitors may have been short, but she made a lasting impression.
“If you are going to get ‘murdered’ early on, I did it right, because the outrage, I have to say, I’ve really enjoyed,” Medley shared during a Monday, January 20, appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Medley, 60, was eliminated in just the second episode of The Traitors season 3, which began on January 9, much to the surprise of host Jimmy Fallon and her fans.
“I went to Rise the other day, which is a gay bar on Ninth Avenue [in Manhattan], and the amount of homage I got for being [‘murdered’] … they really thought I died!” the Real Housewives of New York City alum quipped. “People were like, ‘Oh, my God!’ like I was Jesus Christ that had risen. It was beautiful. I said, ‘I didn’t really die in Scotland.’”
Though Medley didn’t last long this season, she still had to go to great lengths to keep fans from finding out her fate for six months, noting that Traitors was filmed last June.
“You’re really in the mindset. You’re so frightened to say a word,” she said. “And then for six months until it aired, people did this to me: ‘I can’t wait to see you on Traitors! I’m sure you’re going to be great!’ … It was a relief when my ‘murder’ finally happened.”
Medley shared that to prepare for Traitors, she read The Art of War — not once, but twice.
“I prepared like I was really going to war,” Medley said. “I read Art of War twice … Twice. And took notes. Not the Cliff Notes. I actually read it. I studied philosophers like Nietzsche. When I got into my room, I had Scotch tape and I put all these poster boards up of all my strategies each day.”
Medley also lamented that her early exit meant she couldn’t show off all the outfits she had planned to wear on the show. “I had the best clothes,” she said, adding that after being eliminated she “slithered back” to New York City with 15 suitcases.
Medley previously gushed to Glamour about the looks she planned to wear on Traitors in an interview published on January 13.
“I had the best outfits ever,” she said. “I broke out all my old Vivienne Westwood. I had all my Prada tartans, I had a lot of Libertine. Endless amounts of Burberry. I didn’t get to break out any of it. And the shoe situation was out of control.”
New episodes of The Traitors stream Thursday nights at 9 p.m. ET on Peacock.
