Disney has finally cast the lead roles in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Tangled – after model Gigi Hadid had auditioned to play the character of Rapunzel.
Australian actress Teagan Croft, 21, will portray Rapunzel while Milo Manheim, 24, is set to take on the role of Flynn Rider, per The Hollywood Reporter.
Speculation on who could bring the characters to life on the big screen has filtered through social media for months, with other names such as Sabrina Carpenter also being brought up by some fans.
The anticipated project will be adapted from the beloved 2010 movie – with the two lead characters originally being voiced by Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi.
Back in December 2024, it was announced that Disney had plans to make a live-action version of the animation.
Michael Gracey – who has helmed past films such as The Greatest Showman – is stepping behind the camera to direct, while Jennifer Kaytin Robinson wrote the script.

Final auditions to see who would land the roles of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider took place last month in London shortly before the holiday season, according to the outlet.
Other cast details for characters such as Mother Gothel have yet to be announced.
Last year, Gigi Hadid revealed that she had been one of the many stars who auditioned to play Rapunzel in the live-action adaptation.
During an interview with Vogue, the model also shared that she took singing lessons in order to prepare for the audition.
‘I was really proud of my scene,’ Hadid told her close friend Kendall Jenner who had also joined in on the cover story.
‘The singing… I knew they were going to go with a real singer, but I’ll show you my audition scene later.’
A little over one year ago, Disney announced its plans to adapt Tangled into a live-action movie.
The company is no stranger with such projects and has previously adapted other films including Alice In Wonderland, Beauty And The Beast, Cinderella, Mulan, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid and Snow White.

But in April of last year, it was reported that production for the live-action Tangled would be put on hold after Snow White flopped at the box office.
And then in May, the live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch hit theaters, garnering over $1 billion in the box office on a budget of $100 million.
At the time it was announced that Tangled would receive a live-action adaptation of its own, fans had jumped to X to share their thoughts, while others offered their opinions on who should play Rapunzel.
Some social media users felt that singer Sabrina Carpenter would have been an ideal casting choice.
It came after the Espresso hitmaker also wore a Tangled-inspired costume for Halloween.
One shared side-by-side photos of Disney’s Rapunzel as well as Carpenter dressed in the past costume and wrote, ‘Disney you have one chance don’t blow it PLEASE.’
‘I guarantee Disney will cast Sabrina Carpenter in Tangled after the success Ariana Grande is having for Universal. Plus, Sabrina grew up on the Disney channel,’ another wrote.
Carpenter starred in Disney channel shows in the past such as Girl Meets World and the film, Adventures In Babysitting.

While it is still not known who will tackle the antagonist in the project, both Croft and Manheim are currently preparing to bring Rapunzel and Flynn Rider to life on the big screen.
Croft was born in Sydney, Australia and is known for appearing in the HBO Max series Titans – which is based on the DC Comics superhero team called Teen Titans.
The actress had played the character of Rachel Roth/Raven throughout the span of four seasons.
She also took on a smaller role in the Australian soap opera Home And Away and later appeared in the 2023 movie True Spirit.
