Shah Rukh Khan‘s upcoming film King reunites him with director Siddharth Anand. The film holds special significance for Shah Rukh, as he will be seen with daughter Suhana Khan in the film. For the unversed, Siddharth Anand took over the project after Sujoy Ghosh made his exit from King. The latest news on King suggests that Deepika Padukone has reportedly been roped in for the film. According to a report, Deepika might play Suhana’s mother in the film.
As reported by PeepingMoon, Deepika has reportedly been offered the role of Suhana’s onscreen mother. Deepika would also be seen as Shah Rukh’s former lover in the much-awaited film. Even though the actress’ role is being referred to as an extended cameo, it plays a crucial role in driving the main conflict of the story. Deepika’s character is reportedly very important to King’s plot.
The report also mentions suggests that Deepika was both excited and eager to join Siddharth’s directorial. Besides Shah Rukh, Siddharth too was reportedly eager to cast Deepika for this role. If this collaboration comes to fruition, it will mark Deepika’s reunion with Jawan co-star Shah Rukh. Both had shared the screen space in multiple successful films including Pathaan, Chennai Express, Happy New Year, and Om Shanti Om.
In this big entertainment news, Tabu and Saif Ali Khan were reportedly considered to essay the role of Suhana’s parents in King, but the idea was dropped. If reports are to be believed, Abhishek Bachchan could play a menacing villain in the film. King, which is reportedly being referred to as a revenge thriller, will also feature Munjya fame Abhay Verma in a crucial role. As far as King’s theatrical release is concerned, the makers are focusing on late 2026. Currently, the pre-production for Siddharth Anand’s much-awaited film is underway. The makers are planning to begin the shoot in Mumbai next month.
