Chen Hanwei was in Bangkok recently and prayed to the Four-Faced Buddha at the Erawan Shrine.
In an Instagram post today (Aug 6), the 56-year-old actor wrote in the caption: “To thank and be grateful; to all fateful people who see this reel, let’s pray for blessings together.”
Rows of dancers are seen kneeling around the Four-Faced Buddha in the video, with Hanwei also kneeling and putting his hands together in prayer.
The dancers were dressed in elaborate traditional costumes and headgear, and danced gracefully to classical music played by the musicians.
Hanwei, who did a Facebook sales livestream from Bangkok on Aug 4, said he had done the ceremony earlier that morning and hired 188 dancers.
He emphasised he is not spreading religious beliefs but his experience with his viewers.
He also shared he had given thanks through the ceremony a few times before, including this April and added: “I did see some changes… and I want to return my appreciation.”
Some viewers asked him how much it costs to hire the dancers, and Hanwei responded that it was over S$1,000 to hire 30 dancers, adding he paid a five-figure sum.
