Chappell Roan has taken over the internet this weekend with memes of the star going viral after she was accused of sending her security guard to threaten a young fan.
The drama started when footballer Jorginho took to Instagram on Saturday to claim his wife Catherine Harding’s daughter, who she shares with actor Jude Law, was threatened by Chappell’s bodyguard after the 11-year-old spotted the star in the same hotel in Brazil.
Chappell responded, insisting she had no knowledge of the incident before insisting she ‘doesn’t hate children’, but the damage was done and the internet responded with a series of memes.
The singer was compared to Roald Dahl’s villainous headmistress Miss Trunchbull, notorious for her cruel discipline toward her students.
Other viral posts compared Chappell to a nightmarish myth used to scare children, with one post on X reading: ‘Chappell Roan isn’t real, it’s a modern baba yaga myth meant to scare misbehaving children. Brush your teeth or Chappell will get you.’
Others simply marvelled at the tangled web of celebrity Chappell had found herself in the middle of, thanks to the young fans’ famous family.

‘The cross section of sports and pop culture chappell roan has found herself on the wrong side of is maybe the craziest venn diagram i’ve ever seen,’ pointed out one X poster.
Amid a huge backlash the singer responded to Jorginho’s post in a video shared to Instagam on Sunday, in which she insisted it was not her personal security and she did not ask anyone to approach the child.
‘I’m gonna tell my half of the story of what happened today with a mother and child who were involved with a security guard – who is not my personal security…’ she said in the video.
‘I didn’t even see. I didn’t even see a woman and a child. No one came up to me, no one bothered me. I was just sitting at breakfast at my hotel. I think these people were staying at the hotel as well. So the fact that a security guard who is…
‘I did not ask the security guard to go up and talk to this mother and child. I did not. They did not come up to me. I did not do anything. It’s unfair for security to just assume someone doesn’t have good intentions when they have no reason to believe it as there’s no action been taken.
‘I do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do not hate children, like that is crazy. I am sorry to the mother and child that someone was assuming something.
‘If you felt uncomfortable that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that.’
The mother of the child, Jude Law’s ex Catherine Harding was quick to share her own side of the story later on Sunday, uploading a series of Instagram videos to explain what she saw happen whilst having breakfast with her daughter.

‘I know that Chappell has responded, saying that “It wasn’t her security and that she didn’t do it” well, 100% this wasn’t a security guard of the hotel that’s what I can say, he looks after artists,’ Cat said in her video.
‘Now I don’t know if he’s her personal security guard but he was with her, so that is all I know, did she send him to do it? again, I don’t know, I would like to hope not.
‘But at the same time you have a responsibility when you are a celebrity that the people who work for you and act on your behalf are acting on your behalf,’
‘So would he do that if he didn’t have her authority? I don’t know. If he does, thats a big problem. because then he is representing her in a way she doesn’t want to be represented’.
Catherine added that Chappell was right to say she ‘didn’t notice anything’ because nothing happened and claimed all her daughter did was walk silently past the hitmaker’s table.

She explained to him that her daughter, who has a famous father and stepfather, understood ‘boundaries’ acceptable to people in the public eye, but said the security guard did not listen.
‘I hope [Chappell] did not know, I hope she did not send her security over to do this. I really think she is a very very talented artist we liked her a lot we came all the way to São Paulo to watch her show,
‘It was her birthday presented, she asked for tickets, it was a little bit ruined because we didn’t go to the show last night but that’s how it is’.
Before adding: ‘I hope that maybe if it wasn’t her that maybe she learns not to allow the people who work for her not to treat people like this’.
Daily Mail have contacted Chappell Roan’s representatives for comment.
