Chad Michael Murray is in his Christmas era.
The actor opened up to People magazine on what it’s like to release The Merry Gentlemen on Netflix around the same time Lindsay Lohan-starring Our Little Secret is hitting the streamer.
While Murray and Lohan reunited to film Freakier Friday earlier this year, the One Tree Hill star would love to continue working with the actress.
“If we had the opportunity, it’d be great,” Murray told the publication about potentially doing another holiday movie in the future, with Lohan as his co-star. “For us to be able to come back together at this time where we just got done filming a movie, and now here we are both celebrating two Christmas movies at the same place, with Netflix, and they’re a week or two away from each other, is pretty cool.”
He continued, “We were kind of all over the place when we were doing Freaky Friday 2 — so to be able to sit down and do something where it was just her and I carrying the world and both our families can come to set, it would be a really beautiful thing.”
The Freaky Friday sequel will see Murray and Lohan reprise their roles of Jake and Anna from the 2003 film. Jamie Lee Curtis is also returning as Tess, along with Mark Harmon, Rosalind Chao, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong and Stephen Tobolowsky. Newcomers to the franchise Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan round out the cast.
The upcoming movie will see where Anna and Tess are 20 years after the original film. Anna now has a daughter and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As the two families navigate the challenges of merging, the mother-daughter duo of Anna and Tess learn that lighting may strike twice.
“Even though we’ve been in and out [of] each other’s lives, we’ve still known each other 20-something years, right?” Murray said of working with Lohan again on the sequel. “And to watch growth, and to see her with her little boy, and to meet her husband and just to share those experiences now that we’re grown adults, it’s really special. There’s something very full circle about all these moments.”
Freakier Friday hits theaters on Aug. 8.
