This place is fire. No, really though.
In 2023, the Montauk outpost of celeb spot Maison Close was leveled by a devastating blaze.
And over the weekend its Manhattan location was evacuated after a dramatic fire in the sceney restaurant’s dining room.
Witnesses tell Page Six that just after 12:20 Saturday morning as revelers danced on banquets and sexy burlesque-style dancers entertained the throng, fire alarms went off at the French eatery in Soho — which has hosted stars including Jemima Kirke, Meredith Marks, Lisa Vanderpump and others — and partiers began to yell “There’s a real fire!”
As panic set in and a thick smoke began to fill the room, we’re told staff did an excellent job of quickly and efficiently guiding diners safely to the exits.
“It was really scary. People were screaming,” a restaurant guest told Page Six the following day. “My throat still hurts from the smoke, and that’s from being inside for maybe 30 seconds.”
We’re told that many were soaked by the sprinklers and had to stand outside in the frigid temperatures while wet. Staff rolled a rack from the coat check outside to begin reuniting guests with their warm outerwear.
The FDNY quickly responded with around six fire trucks, eyewitnesses say.
Guests believe that a champagne sparkler set fire to a fake plant, but reps couldn’t confirm that report.
A rep for the restaurant told us, “A small flame activated one sprinkler, which then caused the system to engage. The fire department responded, everything was assessed and there was no damage. It will be business as usual tonight [Saturday].”
Maison Close has had terrible luck with fires.
The day before it was set to open on Memorial Day 2023, it burned to the ground.
“We are sorry to announce that last night a fire claimed Maison Close Montauk last night,” the rep said at the time.
