Catherine O’Hara was unable to attend the early filming of Season 2 of “The Studio” just days before her death.
A source close to production told The U.S. Sun Friday that the AppleTV show began shooting the new season last week, and O’Hara was expected to appear in some of the scenes.
“She was scheduled to film, but they reworked the schedule to focus on scenes without her character,” the source said.
Production allegedly moved things around for her due to “personal matters.”
According to the source, it was “not widely known she was dealing with any health or major issues.”
The production source believes O’Hara didn’t get the chance to film any scenes for Season 2.
“Her death comes as a total shock to everyone on the show,” the source added. “She was the most beloved person on the set.
“This is a huge loss not just for ‘The Studio,’ but for the world in general. She’s a legend.”
In the series, O’Hara portrayed Hollywood executive Patty Leigh, who started producing movies after her headline-making ousting.
She starred alongside Seth Rogen, who also created the show, as well as Chase Sui Wonders, Ike Barinholtz, and Kathryn Hahn. Other guest stars include Martin Scorsese, Bryan Cranston, and Zoe Kravitz.
The part earned O’Hara nominations for the Emmys, SAG Awards and Golden Globes.
Rogen had just gushed about working with O’Hara and the rest of the cast in a Jan. 11 Instagram slideshow, writing, “It takes a village.” The first photo was a behind-the-scenes shot of Rogen with O’Hara on set.
The “Schitt’s Creek” alum died Friday at her home in Los Angeles after a “brief illness,” her agency, Creative Artists Agency, confirmed in a statement to Page Six. She was 71.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call at the “Home Alone” star’s home at 4:48 a.m. local time before transporting her to the hospital in “serious” condition.
Her cause of death has yet to be revealed, though she suffered from a rare condition called Situs inversus, where all of her organs appear on the opposite side of their body.
