Cameron Diaz has a couple of projects brewing, but it’s too early to tell whether her recent foray back into acting is permanent.

The actress, who stepped away from the spotlight in 2014 after the film “Annie,” has returned in the new Netflix film “Back in Action.”

In a new interview with Vogue Mexico, Diaz said she isn’t sure what her acting career has in store for her and accepted her upcoming role in the film “Outcome” because it wasn’t a huge time commitment.

“Outcome” also stars Keanu Reeves, Matt Bomer and Jonah Hill, who wrote and directed the film.

“It was an invitation to work with someone I admire,” she explained. “Only a couple of weeks in the city, and I was able to spend every night with my family.”

The movie is set to be released in Spring 2025 and she will also return as Princess Fiona for another “Shrek” film, which will come out next year.

In 2018, the “Mask” star revealed in an interview that she was “semi-retired” before clarifying and calling herself “actually retired.”

In a behind-the-scenes interview for “Back in Action,” Diaz explained that she said “no to everything” to focus on her family and wine company, Avaline.

She and husband Benji Madden share two children, daughter Raddix and son Cardinal.

“That was what I was putting most of my focus on,” she shared. “If I was doing anything other than just sort of being a mom and living my day-to-day.”

“That was pretty much it,” she continued. “I’m just trying to stay alive just like every other mother. I’m just trying to keep it going.”

In a 2021 interview, the “There’s Something About Mary” star called motherhood “the most fulfilling thing that I’ve ever done…It’s just completely the best thing.”

In the Vogue interview, Diaz shares that it was Madden who encouraged her to go back to acting.

Earlier this month, she dazzled on a red carpet in Berlin to promote “Back in Action.” It was her first red carpet-appearance in five years.

It was Diaz’s first movie premiere carpet in a decade, as her last project was 2014’s “Annie.”
