Brittany Cartwright doesn’t have high hopes for Jax Taylor’s sobriety.
Cartwright admitted Tuesday that she is “skeptical” Taylor can “completely” kick his cocaine addiction, which he revealed on Bravo’s “Hot Mic” podcast earlier that same day.
“His behaviors are still alarming, and his treatment plan seems to be the bare minimum,” she said in a statement to People, claiming that co-parenting 3-year-old son Cruz “is still a challenge and very difficult.”
Cartwright, who filed for divorce from Taylor in August 2024, called her estranged husband’s announcement a relief.
“For the first time, I can speak openly about the extent of trauma he’s instilled on our family over the years,” she explained.
Cartwright, 36, said she is “glad” Taylor, 45, finally admitted to what was really going on,” as she has “tried desperately to help him without success.”
She noted, “I’m trying to navigate this as best as I can for my son and I, but every day is still a challenge and very difficult.
“Jax has caused an enormous amount of damage, and I have very little trust in him at this point,” Cartwright continued. “My only hope is that one day, he will be a better person for his son.”
Taylor’s rep has yet to respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
The “Valley” co-stars welcomed Cruz in April 2021, nearly two years after they tied the knot in Kentucky.
Taylor gave Cartwright full legal and physical custody of Cruz — and claimed they were never legally married — in October 2024, according to court documents.
The pair’s spokesperson, however, told Page Six at the time that Taylor had made unspecified “errors” to be “amended without delay” while self-submitting the documents without “trained legal professionals.”
Cartwright poked fun at the mistake in an Instagram comment, writing that “paperwork is hard for some people.”
By that time, Taylor was out of rehab after seeking inpatient treatment for mental health struggles in July 2024.
By September, he shared his bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder diagnoses and told his Instagram followers about wanting to be “better” for Cruz despite learning he is a “textbook narcissist.”
Cartwright, however, subsequently insisted on the “Hot Mic” podcast that the former SUR bartender had not changed “at all” and was still “rage texting” her.
In his confession Tuesday, Taylor said he is now 83 days sober but still “smoke[s] weed a little bit … to go to sleep.”
As for where he currently stands with Cartwright, the “Vanderpump Rules” alum claimed, “It changes. One day she’s happy, one day she’s mad. …. I never know what I’m going to get with her.
“I walk on eggshells constantly — as I should,” Taylor, who moved one mile away from Cartwright, continued. “I just want her to know that I’m really, really trying. I’m doing everything she’s asked.”
