Brandi Glanville says she lost nearly half a dozen teeth while struggling with her facial disfigurement and underlying issues.
The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum explained in a new interview with the US Sun that her health battles began with stress-induced angioedema, which caused her face to swell up and affect her teeth.
“I lost five teeth out of my head, so my face has been looking really thin,” she told the outlet.
Glanville, 52, then gave a shoutout to her friend and former co-star Phaedra Parks for introducing her to a dentist, Dr. Anjali Rajpal, who “wanted to help.”
“It’s the holidays. She’s giving me the gift of smiling again, and we’re in the process, so I have one new tooth in the back, which I’m so excited about,” she raved.
“I can eat again, I’m not chewing with the front of my teeth, and I can smile again, but it’s a work in progress, and I’m just actually happy for the first time in about two years.”
The “Real Housewives of Ultimate Girls” alum admitted that she did “not feel good” when she could “not smile” with her missing teeth.
“When your face swells up and goes down and swells up and goes down, your teeth move, and I had a bridge that was very, very old, and unbeknownst to me there was an infected tooth underneath that,” she further explained.
Glanville added the infected tooth “could have done a lot more damage” if she had not discovered it while treating her stress-induced angioedema.
“We had to take the bridge off because my teeth were like, there,” she further clarified. “Spacing out and moving, and that’s when we found that there was a broken tooth that had been under there for God knows how long. When we pulled that one, we realized we had to pull two more. So now I’m missing five teeth.”
In addition to her physical health, Glanville said the health conditions also affected her social life and mental health.
“I wasn’t socializing anyway, but you really don’t want to because you don’t want to have to explain to everyone why you’re missing a tooth,” she said, while adding that one of the affected teeth was near the front of her mouth.
Glanville and Dr. Rajpal are still working together to reconstruct some of her missing teeth and ensuring that her healthy teeth continue staying safe.
“I’ve been so depressed, and it just seemed like, for the past year and a half, two years, anything and everything that could go wrong went wrong,” Glanville said.
“I have a new therapist, I’m on better medication to help with my depression, so I’m just trying to pivot and, you know, change my outlook, instead of, you know, poor me.”
The “Traitors” alum revealed earlier this week that she spent a whopping $70,000 to try and determine what was causing her face to become disfigured and swollen.
“I don’t go out and I’m just spending all of my money on trying to figure out what’s wrong with me,” she told “Entertainment Tonight.”
After spending $10,000 on lab work alone, she met with several doctors –– including an immunologist, an infectious disease doctor and a rheumatologist, among others.
The doctors eventually diagnosed her with a facial parasite that she may have contracted during a trip to Morocco.
“I’ve been on meds this whole year,” she said. “It’s just been frustrating for all of us.”
