Australian actress Lisa McCune has revealed the personal connection behind her latest home renovation project.
The 54-year-old Blue Heelers star is currently converting a former shop in Melbourne’s Balaclava.
Situated 15 km from the CBD, Lisa says she picked the suburb because it was the first place she lived after leaving her home town of Perth.
‘The most significant place that really resonates with me is Balaclava,’ Lisa told Realestate.com on Friday.
‘It’s where I arrived for the first time when I moved out of home and came to Melbourne.’
Lisa rented a ‘tiny’ two-bedroom share flat in the colourful Bayside neighbourhood which she said she ‘fell in love with’.

She later bought in nearby St Kilda.
‘I now live among a high street and have bought an old shop that I am literally in the throes of renovating,’ she added
‘For me, it’s the memories of being among the very welcoming and friendly Jewish delis and their boiled breads and all the families walking to each other’s houses on Friday night and Saturday.
‘I hadn’t seen any of this sort of culture where I grew up in WA and it was really new and eye opening and felt like a family away from my own.’
Lisa regularly updates her Instagram followers on the progress of her renovation, including pictures of construction.
The shares have attracted many well-wishers, including fellow Aussie actress Georgie Parker.
It comes after the vintage cottage that served as a major location for the beloved Aussie series Blue Heelers hit the market in February.
Blue Heelers, which ran for 12 years from 1994 to 2006 on the Seven network starred a large cast of fan favourites including Lisa McCune, Julie Nihill and John Wood.

Situated in Williamstown, Melbourne, the five-bedroom, two-bathroom Federation pad was with a price guide of $2.8million to $3.1million.
In the famed cop series the cottage featured as the fictional Mount Thomas police station.
Features include high ceilings, large scale rooms, vintage fire places and American Oak flooring.
Blue Heelers is the fourth-most popular TV show in Australian history, with 25 Logies to its name, while lead actress Lisa won four Gold Logies for the series.
Australians were in tears when Lisa’s character Maggie Doyle was fatally shot in dramatic scenes on the show in 2000.
Almost two decades on from the iconic TV moment, the actress revealed in 2018 that she never wanted the police officer to die.
She told news.com.au: ‘I understand why they had to do it, but I think because I knew she had such a strong, young female following I felt really strongly that I wanted her to stay alive.’
Lisa went on to feature in another long running series, Sea Patrol, from 2007-2011.
The four-time Gold Logie winner made headlines in 2024 when she won Dancing With The Stars Australia.
The actress took out the Mirror Ball Trophy with her professional dance partner Ian Waite in a tense finale on the Channel Seven dancing competition.
She was also awarded $20,000 for her chosen charities, the RCD Foundation and the Harrison Reidel Foundation.
