Ben Affleck gushed over his “wonderful” ex-wife Jennifer Garner after their cozy paintball outing sent fans into a frenzy.
The “Gone Girl” actor, 52, name-dropped his ex while talking to GQ about how he handles being a popular topic in the tabloids.
After recognizing that it’s “absurd and ridiculous” that the “day-to-day events” of his life are constantly photographed, he said for their cover story out Tuesday that he’s focusing on being the one who truly knows “what’s going on in” his life, as well as his kids.
“We used to have a thing, my ex-wife and I, when they would see something on a supermarket stand, we would say, well, ‘You know this isn’t always true because if it were, you would have 15 brothers or sisters or whatever the number of stories is where they said that your mom was pregnant,’” he added, referencing his children with Garner: Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13.
“And I’m really lucky that I have a really good co-parent and partner in Jennifer Garner, the kids’ mom, who’s wonderful and great and we work together well,” he explained, adding that dealing with the constant rumors of his life are a “headache more than anything else.”
Earlier this month, Affleck and Garner had tongues wagging when they were spotted getting cozy at a paintball field while celebrating their youngest son’s birthday.
At the time, the “Pearl Harbor” actor was photographed wrapping his arms around his ex-wife’s waist and pulling her close while she pointed with her gun.
Although Garner didn’t return the brace, she also didn’t pull away.
At the time, a source told us exclusively that Affleck “would definitely be open to giving things another shot with Jen if the timing is ever right.”
“At the same time, Ben knows it’s just not realistic at this time in their lives.”
However, a second source noted that “the feeling is not mutual on Jen’s side,” adding, “She’s happy with John [Miller] and that’s just not where her head is at.
“She has a great co-parenting relationship with Ben, and that’s where things stand on her end at the moment.”
Garner, 52, has been dating Miller on and off since 2018, while Affleck finalized his divorce from his second wife, Jennifer Lopez, earlier this year. Affleck and Garner were married from 2005 to 2018.
A third source told The Post in early March that both Jennifers are “relieved to be done with him.”
“Ben’s an emotional roller coaster. He’s even been reaching out to Jennifer [Lopez] again recently. The two Jennifers are actually friends. They bonded over co-parenting their kids. I don’t know why the press feels they have to pit women against each other.”
The source made sure to reiterate that neither Garner nor Lopez is interested in getting back with Affleck.
