BBC Studios is beginning the search for a new London-based president of global content sales following its decision to relocate the role to London. As part of the transition, New York-based Janet Brown, the current president of global content sales, has chosen not to relocate to the U.K. and “will instead pursue new opportunities outside BBC Studios,” the commercial arm of British public broadcaster BBC. She will remain with the company until April to ensure a smooth handover.

The move of the role to London is designed to “further strengthen the company’s unified global approach to content sales and production,” BBC Studios said. “The relocated role will work more closely with BBC Studios Productions’ CEO and chief creative officer Zai Bennett, its genre managing directors and global production leads, overseeing all markets globally, including the U.K.”

Brown joined BBC Studios in 2022 from Gunpowder & Sky as president of content distribution for North America and Latin America, “driving significant growth, innovation, and strategic direction across those regions,” the company said. “In October 2024, she stepped into the global role, centralizing and streamlining operations, leading content investment, and catalyzing business development across key customers worldwide.”

Said Bennett: “This strategic change looks to the future and will support us building a truly unified content studio that combines world-class production with global sales excellence. Janet has made an indelible contribution to our business, we are deeply grateful for her leadership and commitment – and wish her every success in her next chapter.”

BBC Studios’ content hits include the likes of Bluey, Doctor Who, Top Gear, Ghosts, Happy Valley, and Strictly Come Dancing, aka Dancing With the Stars.
