Baekhyun thanks JJ Lin for invitation to duet at Taiwan music festival: ‘I’m very honoured you even know my name’

Singers JJ Lin and Baekhyun showed off their powerful vocals in an unexpected duet at Krazy Music Festival in Taipei on Sunday (Sept 27).

The 45-year-old Singaporean and 34-year-old South Korean were the headliners for the event that day and had their own separate stages.

Baekhyun, who made his debut with the K-pop group Exo, performed his songs including Take You Home (2017), Candy (2020), Paranoia (2023), Rendezvous (2024), Chocolate (2025), and Elevator (2025).

JJ sang his tracks including Cao Cao (2006), High Fashion (2008), Practice Love (2013), You N Me (2013), Twilight (2015), as well as Careful with Fate (2026) from the soundtrack of hit Chinese drama Pursuit of Jade (2026).

Towards the end of JJ’s performance, he invited Baekhyun on stage, where they had a duet to his song No Turning Back (2020).

Singing in well-pronounced Mandarin, Baekhyun synchronised with JJ perfectly, which earned praise from the audience at the event and fans online.

After their performance, Baekhyun shared on stage that JJ was the one who initiated the duet.

JJ said he appreciated and enjoyed Baekhyun’s performances.

“I’m very honoured you even know my name and didn’t expect you would invite me to sing together with you. I am very happy,” Baekhyun responded, as they smiled at each other.

JJ replied: “This is our first live collaboration together. I hope we will have the opportunity to work together again.”

Baekhyun said he knows JJ has a lot of beautiful lyrics and songs and he looks forward to releasing a track with him.

As JJ quipped he would need to learn more Korean, Baekhyun added: “I will learn Mandarin.”

“Let’s learn from each other, looking forward to it,” JJ said.
