Bachelor star Joe Amabile has revealed he has been diagnosed with what appears to be ‘an early-stage brain tumor’ after he underwent an MRI scan.
The reality star, 40, who first shot to fame on The Bachelorette season 14 in 2018 before appearing on Bachelor in Paradise in 2018 and 2021, said the glioma tumor had been discovered after he had a full body scan.
Amabile said the ‘blueberry-size lesion’ will now be removed during surgery in two weeks time, with further testing of the mass set to take place.
He said on Instagram, ‘So a little medical update. I didn’t share my Prenuvo results because they ended up finding a lesion in my brain. So then I had to go get a brain MRI, and there was a blueberry-sized lesion in my brain that looks to be a glioma, which is a tumor.
‘So I now need to get brain surgery [in two weeks] to get it removed and get it tested, and then we’re gonna go from there. So it’s been a wild couple weeks. Definitely wasn’t expecting this.
‘I think it’s one of those things where you’re like, “Oh, something like this never happened to me,” and here I am. They say it’s really early stages. I hope they are able to get it all, and I’m fine. But I will keep you updated.

He added in the caption, ‘This past month has been a lot of ups and downs to say the least. After multiple scans and MRIs I have what looks to be an early stage brain tumor. In two weeks I’ll be undergoing a craniotomy to have it removed — yeah brain surgery — @memorialsloankettering.
‘I’m doing my best to stay positive during this time and am lucky to have a lot of support from family and friends.
‘I’ve gone back and forth about what I wanted to share on social media but ultimately this is now part of my life now, so might as well. Onto a new journey.’
Amabile has been married to Serena Pitt, 28, since 2022, who he met on Bachelor in Paradise in 2021.
Pitt commented, ‘You’re so strong and we’re going to get through this together. I love you.’
Amabile first came into the spotlight when he was one of the eligible bachelors vying for Becca Kufrin on The Bachelorette Season 14 in 2018.
He was eliminated on the first night but his affable personality saw him dubbed ‘Grocery store Joe’ and saw him parlay his fame into an appearance on Dancing With the Stars.
He met and fell in love with Pitt on Bachelor in Paradise in 2021.
