Karan Johar is all set to launch Dharma Productions’ next film with its ‘24th debutant filmmaker’, which many believe is Kesari 2. The filmmaker took to Instagram handle to express his excitement for his upcoming project by referring to it as his ‘proudest film’. However, he didn’t reveal the name of the project. In a short pre-announcement note that he put out, Karan also mocked trolls who have been attacking him for promoting those with filmy background.
Karan Johar took to his Instagram handle, and wrote, “When I began producing films (once 1 stepped into Dharma as an active part of the company), in 2003 with Kal Ho Naa Ho – the idea was to empower filmmakers and storytellers…to pay it forward. We got it right…we got it wrong but the intent was always to put out stories and films we believed in. The motive was only either entertain, seek acclaim or to simply have fun at the movies!”
“I am so proud to say that our next offering is the 24th debutant filmmaker we have introduced to Hindi cinema! (Trivia for trollers: 90% of them are ‘outsiders’) I rarely write notes before the release of a film but few films excite me, energise me and inspire me the way the process of this film has… (sic),” the note further read.
Within minutes, the comments section was flooded with reactions. Netizens were quick to guess that the ‘proudest film’ is Kesari: Chapter 2. One comment read, “KESARI CHAPTER 2 announcement when??” Next user wrote, “Kesari chapter-2 releasing on 18th april.” Another user posted, “Akshay Kumar film.”
Karan Johar, who has produced Nadaaniyan under the banner Dharmatic Entertainment, has been in news for his reaction to the massive criticism the film has been receiving. During a recent trailer launch event of an upcoming Punjabi film, Karan slammed those who have been taking digs at the film. He said, “A critic wrote, ‘I want to kick this film’. I have a major issues with these people. I have no issues with the industry, trolls, opinion makers, social commentary. I happily accept people’s opinions. In the same way, we have also our Nadaaniyan, Gustakhiyaan, and Gehraiyaan. But, when you write such things in your review, it is not a reflection of the film, it is a reflection of you.”
