Even Amanda Seyfried can relate to having an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction — only hers was in front of Glen Powell.
During a recent interview with People, the Mamma Mia! actress recalled the time her “boobs fell out of my dress at the 2023 Critics Choice Awards.”
“I was wearing this amazing vintage dress. I made my stylist dress up in it before I went just for fun,” she said of the vintage Dior gown she was wearing that night. “It was kind of sewn together and it started truly falling apart, literally falling off of me on the red carpet, and I think there were even interviews where I’m saying it’s breaking off.”
That year, Seyfried was nominated for best actress in a limited series or movie made for television for her role in The Dropout, which she ultimately won.
However, it was during a one-on-one conversation with Powell early in the night that her dress decided to just fully give up. “I was talking to Glen Powell in the corner near my table, and we were joking around about something and I lifted my arms up, and my boobs were just out. My dress fell apart,” the Long Bright River actress recalled.
“We both screamed and like the gentleman he is, he covered me,” the Emmy winner added of the Anyone But You actor. “He didn’t look… I think. None of us were expecting that, but that dress had truly just given up.”
Later, when Seyfried went to accept the award, she noted that she “ended up wearing someone else’s jacket on stage because, well, it would’ve just been my boobs.”
Recently, the mother of two spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about her career and upcoming projects, including The Housemaid, directed by Paul Feig, which will see her star alongside Brandon Sklenar and Sydney Sweeney, Powell’s former Anyone But You co-star.
When asked what’s the quickest way for an offer to get a “yes” from you, she responded, “The people. My agent called and said Paul Feig was working on this movie based on a best-seller. It’s a New Jersey shoot. And Sydney Sweeney is in it. I said, ‘Go for it. But negotiate.’ (Laughs). I didn’t even need to read anything.”
The film is slated for a Christmas release.
