Amanda Bynes has released her first song just months after teasing her return to music.
The 40-year-old actress – who celebrated her birthday earlier this month – took to Instagram over the weekend to promote the single, a new song called Girlfriend.
Bynes appeared in a video with with freshly bleached blonde hair, heavy dark eyebrows, and shimmery makeup.
‘What’s up, everybody? I just wanted to let you all know that Girlfriend is out now on Spotify and all the streaming platforms,’ she said to her 675,000 followers on Saturday night.
‘Please listen. Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. I’m so glad you’re all loving it. The response has been super positive so far,’ the former child star added.
It comes days after she signed to the distribution platform Create Music Group.

Girlfriend was executed with assistance from Zabba and Fenix Flexin, with Bynes receiving writing credits on the song’s YouTube link.
The track’s cover art is minimalistic – a simple photo of a snowy landscape featuring powder-covered trees and a lavender sky.
Create Music Group described the song as a blend of ‘melodic rap with EDM-inspired production, creating a catchy, high-replay record with a smooth West Coast bounce’ in a statement shared with E! News.
The description continued, ‘Built around a strong hook and confident, flirt-heavy energy, it’s designed for repeat listens and wide playlist appeal.’
Bynes initially gave fans a snippet of the nearly three-minute song in late January.
Then in February she revealed in an Instagram post, ‘@fenixflexinofficial is going to be on my song GIRLFRIEND ! straight fire!!!!!!!!!’
The former All That sensation had previously told her followers, ‘I wanted to make a quick post just to let you know I’m going back into the studio tomorrow to work on my song girlfriend.’
She added, ‘I’m so excited to see how it turns out and I really can’t wait for you all to hear it as well.’

She last released a single titled Diamonds with then-fiancé Paul Michael in 2021, shortly after the end of her conservatorship.
The 58-second song marked her rap debut, and she later unveiled a longer version as well a second single titled Fairfax in 2022.
Bynes graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in 2019 and later ventured into podcasting.
She launched Amanda Bynes & Paul Sieminski: The Podcast, a collaboration with her friend, in 2023. The podcast was cancelled after just one episode.
Continuing to explore various creative outlets, the former actress displayed work at an art show in late 2024, then joined OnlyFans in April 2025.
