Alison Hammond has shared how she managed to drop 11 stone by addressing her ‘childish mentality to food’ and cutting out her favourite treat.
At her heaviest, the This Morning presenter, 51, weighed 30 stone before a pre-diabetes health warning pushed her to pursue a healthier lifestyle.
Alison began her transformation five-years ago when she started working with a personal trainer to regain her fitness and employing a stricter diet.
Since then, the TV personality also took up Reformer Pilates and boxing, sharing updates to her social media of herself working out.
Speaking to the Radio Times about her improved regime, she said: ”ve had a personal trainer for five years, even when I was at my biggest. But I had a childish mentality with regards to food, especially toffees – but now I’ll only have a couple a day.
‘We’re not getting any younger, are we, babes? You realise at some point you’ve got to look after yourself. I’ve got a speaker under my pillow to play relaxing music, and a sleep tracker.’

Alison’s health kick started after she discovered she was pre-diabetic, the point where your blood sugar is higher than normal but not high enough to be diabetic.
Previously speaking to Women’s Health, she said: ‘My mum had Type 2 diabetes and she was worried for me, so when I then found out that I was pre-diabetic, that was frightening. I thought “I have to be an adult about this”. The sweets had to stop, and the fatty foods.’
Alison recently revealed she has started Reformer Pilates and circuit classes in a bid to keep the weight off after revealing why she won’t touch weight loss jabs.
As she works to maintain her figure after making lifestyle changes, Alison gave an insight into the measures she has taken.
Alison revealed that she has started the form of Pilates because she is as ‘stiff as a board’.
She added: ‘You feel absolutely incredible after it. I really need a good stretch – so Reformer Pilates has been brilliant for me.
‘I also do this early-morning circuit class from the brilliant Steve Hensel at Blue Zone. I’ll go at 6.30am and do a full hour, it’s a proper old-school gym.’
Alison said that she leaves the gym feeling ‘amazing’ after working hard, but while she is keen to try things, there is one wellness practice she won’t adopt.

She continued in an interview with Closer Magazine: ‘I did try one of those cold plunge pools once – and absolutely not! It lasted about a minute. I was like, ‘Why am I literally trying to kill myself?”
Reformer Pilates, loved by Meghan Markle and Jennifer Aniston, costs around £25 to £40 for a 45-minute class and is surging in popularity in the UK.
Alison revealed how she managed to lose the pounds without the assistance of weight-loss jabs, giving an insight into her exercise plan with her personal trainer.
She told Heat: ‘I’ve got a personal trainer – she’s amazing, she trains me when I can train. If I’m working, I don’t train, I’ll go for a walk.’
Alison added: ‘But when I’m at home, I’ll go and have a session with her in the morning, just an hour. It might be four days a week.’
She also revealed her approach to her diet, saying she hasn’t cut anything out completely but focuses on ‘moderation’. ‘I don’t deny myself anything, I eat everything, but in moderation,’ she added.

She captioned the post: ‘Yass @themccannic! Same time next week,’ alongside a flame and boxing glove emoji.
Alison previously told how weight loss jabs weren’t for her, opting against using them because she was ‘frightened’ of ‘scary’ stories surrounding them.
She told Good Housekeeping UK: ‘I think that, for people who need to use them, they’re a good thing – but for me, as soon as I hear any scare story, I get frightened.’
The presenter added: ‘So I haven’t wanted to use them, but that’s not to say I wouldn’t in the future, and I certainly wouldn’t look down on anyone who did.’
In an interview with the Daily Mail, she discussed how she stays trim while surrounded by cakes on The Great British Bake Off.
She said: ‘I eat a bit of Paul and Prue’s after they’ve finished judging. I only try the ones that got a handshake from Paul or ones that won. If the judges aren’t impressed, I’m not trying it.’
