Veteran actor and filmmaker Ayan Mukerji’s father Deb Mukherjee passed away at the age of 83 on March 14. As per reports, he died of age-related illness. Deb Mukherjee’s funeral took place in Mumbai. Several stars showed up to support and express condolences to the Mukherjee family. Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor put a break to actress’ birthday celebrations and returned to Mumbai to be by Ayan Mukerji’s side.
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor had left for Alibaug on March 13 to ring in actress’ birthday. They had a small meet and greet session with the paps and later took a jetty to Alibaug. However, today they were seen returning as reports of Deb Mukherjee’s death hit headlines. Ranbir and Ayan are best friends. They have even worked together for Brahmastra. As per reports, the funeral of Deb Mukherjee will take place at Pawan Hans. A lot of stars showed up in support of Ayan Mukerji.
Karan Johar, who shares a good rapport with the filmmaker, was among the first few to show up. Kajol was also seen at Deb Mukherjee’s home. He was Kajol’s uncle. During the Durga Puja, Kajol and Deb Mukherjee’s bonding videos were much cherished. Veteran star Jaya Bachchan too showed up along with daughter Shweta Bachchan. A video has hit the internet that shows Kajol hugging Jaya Bachchan as came to pay their last respects. As per reports, other celebrities like Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Sidharth Malhotra and many more are expected to also attend Deb Mukherjee’s funeral.

Deb Mukherjee was part of many big films like Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki (1978), Baaton Baaton Mein (1979), Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander (1992) and Kaminey (2009). He was also the father-in-law of Ashutosh Gowariker.
