Akshay Kumar is the king of patriotic films. The combination has always worked wonders on screen. Airlift, Gold, Holiday are some of the examples. His next is Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh. The film directed by Karan Singh Tyagi will see Akshay Kumar playing the role of lawyer C Shankar Nair. It is an intense courtroom drama that has Akshay Kumar’s character fighting a legal battle against after the brutal Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The movie is going to release on April 18 and first reviews are already out.
A special screening of Kesari Chapter 2 was reportedly held in the Capital where many prominent leaders watched Akshay Kumar’s movie. R Madhavan also plays a key role in the film. The Chief Minister of Delhi – Rekha Gupta – took to her social media handle to praise film and stated that it presents the ‘spirit of patriotism, courage and sacrifice’. She wrote, “The film Kesari Chapter 2 presents the spirit of patriotism, courage, and sacrifice in a very impactful and emotional manner. Every scene is filled with pride and inspiration. Best wishes to Shri @akshaykumar, Shri @ActorMadhavan, and the entire team of #KesariChapter2. Thanks to Union Minister Shri @HardeepSPuri Ji for the invitation to the film screening.”
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri also shared his review saying that it is a “powerful and moving tribute to India’s freedom movement and the martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh.”
Rahul Sharma, businessman and Asin’s husband, too is all praise for Kesari Chapter 2. In fact, he even called for a National Award for the film and its actors. He wrote, “We’ve all read about Jallianwala Bagh in history books, but nothing prepares you for the truth I witnessed today at the special screening of #Kesari2. I’m short of words for how deeply moved I am. This is content, deserving of a National Award. Brilliant performances by @akshaykumar and @ActorMadhavan. Don’t miss it.”
