Adult Swim has promoted Cameron Tang to lead development and current series at the cable and digital channel.
Tang has been with Adult Swim since 2012, and his promotion to senior vp and head of development and current series helps reset the executive structure at Adult Swim. Suzanna Makkos was previously head of original comedy and animation at Adult Swim and HBO Max, but she took a post at Disney last year. Tang will assume her duties, reporting to Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen.
“Cam has been instrumental in shaping Adult Swim’s creative identity, championing creators, and finding and nurturing the projects that push the entire animation field into new territory — all of which results in the shows people can’t stop talking about,” said Ouweleen. “His vision, taste, and collaborative leadership have powered some of our biggest hits and position him perfectly to help guide the next era of Adult Swim programming.”
Tang has had a hand in developing series including Joe Pera Talks With You, Royal Crackers and The Eric Andre Show, among others, at Adult Swim. In his new role, he’ll be responsible for developing new series and take charge of the channel’s current slate, which includes Rick and Morty and its upcoming spinoff President Curtis, Common Side Effects, Haha, You Clowns, Primal and the upcoming live-action sketch show The Terrors of Jordan Mendoza.
