A Current Affair host Allison Langdon paid tribute to her long-time colleague Chris Andersen during Wednesday night’s episode, after his tragic death in Bali earlier this month.

Andersen, who had worked as a sound recordist on the Channel Nine series for almost two decades, was on a holiday with his wife and son when he tragically died during a medical episode.

‘A Current Affair is one big family, we spend a lot of time together on the road. So, when we lose one of the team, it really hurts,’ Ally told viewers.

‘Tonight we pay tribute to our sound recordist Chris ‘Ando’ Andersen.

‘On holidays in Bali with his beautiful wife and five-year-old son, we believe he suffered a medical episode, passing away last Wednesday. Our hearts are broken.’

Ally’s heartfelt words were followed by a moving tribute to the beloved team member, in which images of him working on the road with the ACA crew were played over tributes to him from other colleagues.

‘For 18 years Chris has been instrumental in telling some of our biggest stories. Not by being in front of the camera, but by capturing sounds,’ reporter Dan Nolan said.

Ally finished the tribute with some precious words: ‘To the family, Charlotte and little Otis, our gratitude and deepest condolences.

‘Thank you for allowing us to share Ando’s incredible life and stories.’

Last week, it was reported that veteran Channel Nine staffer Chris Andersen died on May 6 while on holiday in Bali.

The following day, Nine chief executive Matt Stanton confirmed Andersen’s death in an all-staff email.

‘Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family, friends and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time,’ Stanton began.

He added that staff should ‘look out for one another today’.

Meanwhile, Fiona Dear, Nine’s executive director of news and current affairs, paid tribute to Andersen in a statement.
