Whitney Cummings went into full vigilante mode after learning of an alleged arsonist in her neighborhood from a friend, who said a man was caught ‘setting more fires’ on the back of their hill.
The comedian, who lives in Topanga, filmed a video of herself driving around in an attempt to stop anyone from intentionally starting fires or destroying parts of her community.
She was motivated to take matters into her own hands after a neighbor texted her claiming that a man was caught committing arson.
The performer, 42, said in an Instagram video on Thursday that the man was ‘chased away’ and had 911 called on him.
‘I think they caught the guy recently in Woodland Hills trying to put gasoline in sewers. It’s happening all over,’ she insisted, before declaring that, in addition to climate change causing these deadly wildfires, a mental illness crisis was playing a role.
After hearing the disturbing story, Cummings explained that she felt called to protect her neighborhood as she stated that she feels wind and ‘arsonists that are just lighting fires’ are the ‘biggest threat’ to Southern California, right now.

‘We’re going to go to some places where that [arson] could happen,’ she explained. ‘It’s happening at, like, the base of canyons and we’re going to drive around and see if we find any.’
Cummings, then, seemingly joked that she brought a sword with her in case she actually came in contact with an arsonist.
‘We’re going to have a duel,’ she said while explaining what her plan was.
Later, the star recorded another video saying they were off to different trail heads, which she said were being targeted by arsonists.
She went on to conclude that the ‘key to ‘defeating someone who is doing something so violent and sickening that there’s really not much you can do, beside kill them’ is ‘come off so crazy that they are just stunned.’
‘If anyone can out crazy an arsonist, who is it babe? she asked her boyfriend, who assured her she could take one on.
Following her evening spent looking for criminals, Cummings mused about her ‘arsonist hunting’ which she said looked compared to someone dressing as ‘a crazy neighbor in a Broadway play who was secretly the murderer.’
Her post comes just three days after she was evacuated from her home due to the Southern California wildfires raging across Los Angeles.

‘I am evacuating my home. It’s so hard to leave the podcast studio behind,’ she in an emotional TikTok video. ‘I know that sounds insane. I have everything, like my son’s birth certificate. But just to leave … all this [referring to her podcast studio].’
Before she left, she recorded footage of the view from her window, which looked out to thick smoke clouds in the near distance.
‘I don’t know if you can see. It’s pretty close,’ the comedian said as she broke down in tears.
‘I don’t know what I’m gonna lose, but it’s weirdly like, you really find out what matters to you when you have to evacuate,’ Cummings said. ‘I’m not taking the cameras. I’m just taking little trinkets and stuff that you guys gave me at shows.’

‘You really find out what matters when you can only grab a couple things to evacuate,’ she captioned the images. ‘There is just nothing to say.’
Some of Hollywood’s biggest names have seen their beloved homes razed in the devastating wildfires that have swept through Los Angeles this week.
This includes Anthony Hopkins, Miles Teller, Anna Faris, Mel Gibson, Paris Hilton, Tina Knowles, John Goodman, Candy Spelling and Milo Ventimiglia.
