MTV brought a small piece of Briar U to the 2026 Video Music Awards stage.
Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli, the stars of Prime Video’s hit hockey romance series Off Campus, announced rising pop singer Sienna Spiro’s performance Sunday night. As soon as the pair took the stage, the crowd went wild. Bright had to briefly pause because the crowd was cheering so loud.
Both actors hit the red carpet before the show, sporting chic sunglasses. Bright went with a glamorous, edgy all-black look, while Cameli went with a cool denim look.
Bright and Cameli have both been busy all summer filming season two of Off Campus, based on Elle Kennedy’s book series of the same name. The series, which premiered in May, reached 36 million viewers worldwide over its first 12 days of release, according to figures shared by the Amazon-owned streamer. It comes in as Prime Video’s third largest series debut over that amount of time, behind The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Fallout.
The book series Off Campus, which begins with The Deal, follows a new-but-connected couple in each book. The show plans to keep that model. Season one dove headfirst into the age-old romantic trope of fake dating with music student Hannah Wells (Bright), who, in true hockey fashion, is often called Wellsy by her love interest, Garrett Graham (Cameli). Graham is the son of a professional hockey legend and captain of Briar University’s hockey team.
Off Campus has made stars out of most of its lead stars. Cameli recently told The Hollywood Reporter during a conversation with real-life hockey star Macklin Celebrini that he’s still adjusting to the new parts of fame, like paparazzi and being recognized. “Look, if you’re a fan of the show — the thing that I’m so proud of and pour my heart and soul into — then that’s fucking awesome,” he said. “When I see people out, and they come up to say they love the show, that’s always really enjoyable.”
The show’s next installment will adapt the plot of Kennedy’s third novel in the Off Campus series, The Score. It centers on lovable party boy turned certified lover boy Dean Di Laurentis (Kalyn) and aspiring actress and the ultimate best friend Allie Hayes (Abdalla). Both Kalyn and Abdalla’s characters were fan favorites during season one.
