Zhang Linghe’s towering height has once again stolen the spotlight — and this time, Jackson Wang’s attention and Zhou Shen’s view — at the Greater Bay Area Film & Music Gala event held in Macau on Sept 20.
Netizens were amused by a hilarious onstage moment involving the Chinese celebrities, when the actor appeared to completely tower over singer Zhou Shen, also known as Charlie Zhou.
Videos of the moment circulating online show Zhou Shen, who turns 34 this month, and Jackson, 32, waiting at the centre of the stage for the next segment to begin, before event host Linghe makes his entrance.
However, the moment Linghe takes centre stage, he almost completely blocks Zhou Shen from view, leaving netizens in stitches.
Linghe, who turns 29 in December, is reportedly 190cm tall, nearly 30cm taller than Zhou Shen, who is said to be around 161cm.
The event also featured various artistes from the Chinese entertainment industry, including Liu Yuning, Jam Hsiao, Eric Chou and pop group 5566.
Another clip of the stage shows Jackson marvelling at Linghe as soon as the latter stands in front of him. He turns to Zhou Shen to say something before turning his attention back to Linghe.
Netizens attempted to read his lips, with most claiming Jackson, who’s 174cm tall, said “How is he so tall? Oh my god.”
Many netizens were tickled by the interaction, with the hashtag “Zhang Linghe, you’re blocking Zhou Shen” trending on Weibo.
Some joked that once Linghe entered the stage, Zhou Shen could “clock off from work”, while others shared old clips of the pair’s striking difference in height.
One netizen wrote: “Good thing Zhang Linghe can’t sing, or else Zhou Shen would be even more hurt.”
