Frankie Muniz is back to business.
The “Malcolm in the Middle” alum returned to Instagram with an unexpected video about tire safety Saturday — just one day after revealing he had hit “rock bottom” following a “nightmare” six weeks.
In the clip, the 40-year-old actor demonstrated the “old penny test” by sticking a coin into the tread of a tire to determine whether it needs to be replaced.
“The old penny test still works. Insert a penny into the tread with Lincoln’s head facing down,” he captioned the video.
“If you can see the top of his head, your tread is at (or below) 2/32″ — that’s the legal minimum and a safety problem in rain.”
The actor-turned-NASCAR driver then encouraged his followers not to “wait for the next storm” before plugging Priority Tire and tagging the company’s Instagram account.
The new post comes after Muniz sparked concern Friday when he opened up about the difficult time he has been going through.
“The last 6 weeks of my life have been a nightmare I’m praying to wake up from,” he wrote alongside a photo of himself. “Everything [has] felt heavy, unclear, and like it was falling apart at the same time.”
“I wouldn’t wish this season on anyone.”
Muniz, who reprised his role as Malcolm in the “Malcolm in the Middle” revival series, said the “unexpected gift” of his struggles was that he had been forced to do some “real self-reflection” and confront areas of his life that he wants to change.
The former child star also acknowledged “hitting rock bottom,” but said he hoped the low point would force him to become a better version of himself.
“This isn’t the end of the story. It’s the part where I start doing the work … the uncomfortable, unglamorous, necessary work,” he wrote.
Hours later, Muniz’s estranged wife, Paige Price, shared a cryptic message about “perspective” on her Instagram Story.
“Life is all about perspective. If you ask the grass, the zebra is the monster and the lion is the protector,” Price, 33, wrote alongside a video of herself making a wax seal.
She set the clip to an acoustic version of the Goo Goo Dolls’ “Iris.”
Neither Muniz nor Price has clarified whether her message was related to his emotional post.
The former couple announced in July that they were divorcing after “10 beautiful years together.”
Muniz and Price — who tied the knot in February 2020 — said at the time that their relationship felt “most natural and strong as a deep friendship and as co-parents.”
They share 5-year-old son Mauz.
