Libbie Mugrabi’s mom tells Page Six she was left “shaking like a leaf” after her alleged run-ins at her daughter’s court-ordered auction and that her dog, Botox, has been suffering from anxiety after the incident.
Socialite Libbie was forced to sell her Hamptons mansion last week to pay off a loan on the property.
But the sale on the steps of Southampton courthouse devolved into chaos, with the Post reporting that Scher told an attorney on the scene “your client is a d–k” and that cops came because she was being “disruptive.”
But on Friday told us, “I am saddened by the disinformation about my behavior when I never said any foul language, and I was never arrested, and I was just questioned of what happened with my side of the story, which as a citizen I have those rights,” she said.
“It was chaotic and I got cursed at! I went there to support my daughter, and I entered this chaos with these people, who acted so unruly,” she said.
Scher further claimed she was “abused,” which contributed to Botox’s angst.
“My dog and I were upset. We were both shaking like leaves. I was really upset. I was crying hysterically,” she said.
The Southampton Police Department confirmed “this woman was disturbing the process of the auction,” when we reached out by phone on Thursday.
The police officer added the woman was “being very disruptive, loud and boisterous… She was yelling things, [was] asked to leave and she complied.” The officer did not provide a police report.
Scher admitted to us that she did leave, but, she claimed, only because the officer asked her to because “I was not bidding.”
Scher told us that a potential buyer on the scene called her a “lunatic,” and repeatedly hurled F-bombs at her.
All of this played out while her other daughter, Mia Rowe, had headed off to the bank to collect a certified check in an attempt to save her sister’s home. Rowe reportedly returned without the check, so the auction went on.
Mugrabi was not present for the drama. She lost her mansion, which went for $5.864 million, significally less than the $25 million she put it on the market for in May. Scher described the auction process as unfair.
“The unfortunate thing is the bidding process was unclear, and nobody understood how it worked except this one gentleman, who got the house, even though my daughter had already outbid him and was given permission to go get the check, which she did,” she said.
“They restarted the auction as she was getting the check, which she had been given permission to do, so I tried to stall the auction until she came back,” she added.
Scher says Mugrabi just wants to put this chapter behind her. “Libbie is ready for a fresh start, even if it means leaving her home behind,” she said.
“Forced out [is] what happened to her. This litigation was entirely too much for any human to handle. And as [her] mom, [I] believe she put up a great fight right to the end,” she concluded.
