Travelling to Thailand soon?
Starting Sept 15, Singaporeans will be allowed to stay in the country visa-free for up to 30 days, down from the current 60 days.
This was announced by Thailand’s Interior Ministry via a notification published in the Royal Gazette on Monday (Aug 31).
The new measure states that passport holders from a list of 60 countries and territories, including Singapore, may enter Thailand visa-free for tourism and stay there for up to 30 days.
This replaces Thailand’s 60-day visa exemption scheme introduced in July 15, 2024, which allowed eligible travellers, including Singaporeans, to enter the country visa-free for tourism, work and short-term business activities for up to 60 days.
According to the interior ministry, the list was revised after consideration of Thailand’s national security, economy, as well as the promotion of tourism.
The latest announcement also repeals earlier notifications dated March 4, 2019 and June 21, 2022 which granted 30-day visa-free stays to tourists from certain countries.
In addition, there is a separate condition for those entering Thailand by land.
“Eligible travellers using such crossings may enter Thailand under the visa-exemption scheme no more than twice in a calendar year,” the interior ministry said.
Singaporeans are exempted from the above restriction, alongside Malaysians, Bruneians and Indonesians.
Nationals of other countries designated by the Minister to enter through land-border checkpoints more than twice per calendar year are also exempted.
