Taiwanese-American singer-actor Vanness Wu has refuted rumours about his wife Emi Aramaki.
Taiwanese media Next Apple News said in an article on Aug 18 they received a tip-off that Emi was neither 35 nor a graduate of University College London (UCL) as previously reported.
The publication said photos of Emi circulating online show her attending gatherings with students from other top universities from 2015 to 2016.
According to the article, there are “no records” of her student life and graduation ceremony which allegedly raised questions about her academic credentials.
Vanness addressed the rumours through his agency B’in Music in a statement to Next Apple News.
“The recent allegations and online rumours about her lying about her age and faking her education are all untrue,” said the 48-year-old.
He added he has never publicly said she is 35 years old: “Her actual age is 31 and she graduated from UCL. This information can be verified. This formal clarification aims to put the facts straight and hopefully put this matter to rest. Thank you for your concern.”
In June this year, Vanness had announced via social media that he was married, sharing a black-and-white photo of his hand wrapped around another person’s, with both spotting matching wedding bands.
While he did not reveal the identity of his partner then, his record label B’in Music confirmed later that he had tied the knot with Emi, with reports saying they had registered their marriage in Las Vegas, USA, in May.
Vanness was previously married to Singaporean entrepreneur Arissa Cheo from 2013 to 2018.
One of the iconic F4 members who shot to fame in the 2001 Taiwanese hit drama Meteor Garden, Vanness was recently spotted on a date with Emi at Marina Bay Sands ahead of the F Forever 1st World Tour concerts here with Jerry Yan, Vic Chou and Mayday’s Ashin Aug 14 to 16.
