Solange Knowles is paying tribute to Hayden Panettiere.
Knowles, who starred with Panettiere in the 2006 movie Bring It On: All or Nothing, took to her Instagram stories on Tuesday to reflect on her time working with the actress while sharing a still from the film.
“rest in peace hayden. in peace, because you are so deserving of it,” she wrote. “we had so many parallels in our lives, and the world watched u so courageously live in your radical truth telling your story. we watched your endless quest for vulnerability, and healing.”
“i salute your journey and i honor the work we created together that became something that really means something to people … reaching people we couldn’t have ever imagined at the time, as two young girls, trying to keep looking to the light,” she continued. “the light surrounds you now. rest easy hayden.”
Amid the ongoing heartfelt tributes to the late actress, who died Sunday at age 36, are acknowledgments of Panettiere‘s memorable roles, including Bring It On: All or Nothing. The krump-style dance-off her character participates in in the film has also gone viral on social media in the 20 years since the straight-to-DVD sequel was released.
In the 2006 film, Panettiere and Solange starred as two rival high school cheerleaders who end up on the same cheer squad after Panettiere’s Britney moves to the same school as Solange’s Camille. Though she formerly cheered at the wealthy Pacific Vista High School, Panettiere‘s Britney joins the Crenshaw Heights squad, resulting in her and Knowles‘ Camille becoming unlikely friends.
Gustavo Carr, who starred in the film as Panettiere’s love interest, also paid tribute to the actress, calling her “a light,“ “muse,“ “artist“ and “an old soul, wise beyond your years. The kind of person people loved to work with and felt lucky to know.”
“I hope you knew you were seen and loved. So much life lived, and still far too soon. I wish there had been one more hug. Rest peacefully, Hayden. Sending all my love to your daughter, your family and everyone who loved you,” he wrote alongside a picture with her.
Panettiere is survived by her parents and daughter Kaya, who she shares with ex Wladimir Klitschko.
