Ryan Reynolds received mixed reaction from fans as he appeared in a full Deadpool costume at Marvel’s Comic-Con in San Diego on Saturday.
The movie star, 49, surprised film fanatics at Marvel’s presentation for Avengers: Doomsday, which featured X-Men characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for the first time.
Ryan was joined onstage by other Avengers: Doomsday stars, including Robert Downey Jr and Paul Rudd.
It might be the biggest tease yet to suggest Ryan will appear in Avengers: Doomsday as speculation about his possible role for Deadpool continues to grow.
Ryan said: ‘This seems like an awfully expensive way to announce a film. When do you start filming?’
Robert, who stars as Doctor Doom after initially playing Iron Man in the MCU, replied: ‘It’s in the can, bro. Look around you. Did you bump your head?’
Ryan replied: ‘I see. So there’s no additional photography, no overages, hot costs — maybe last minute additions?’

‘No further questions. Happy Hogan, fetch the Audi. We’re leaving,’ Ryan added as he dropped the microphone and made his way out of Hall H.
Despite his star-studded entrance, some fans felt his appearance was ‘a bit cringe’ as social media users flocked to Reddit.
Comments read: ‘Ryan “I need all the attention” Reynolds’, ‘I just said that to myself before i opened up the comments. even rolled my eyes,’
‘Same thought. Maybe I’m in the unpopular group but I find him annoying as hell.’
His appearance comes weeks after he and wife Blake Lively were snubbed from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding.
Once BFFs, Blake’s absence from Taylor’s wedding illustrated the painful toll her legal battle with Justin Baldoni took on her friendship with the Love Story singer.
The godmother to Blake’s three daughters, Taylor reportedly fell out with the actress after she was dragged into her legal battle with Justin.
A source has since informed the Daily Mail of Blake’s fury over her rejection, which has set a match to any chance she and Taylor might mend fences in the future.
Blake is ‘sad and a little bit p***ed. No, a lot p***ed,’ said the insider. ‘That friendship was over before but if there was hope, it’s gone. They’ll never be friends again.’

The Gossip Girl star ‘wanted to go,’ the source noted. ‘It feels bad to be excluded like that. She had sort of hoped that despite everything, their history was enough that they’d be included, but that’s not the way it went.’
In the days after the wedding, Blake and Ryan were seen enjoying an off-duty day in his native Canada.
Blake had previously sued Justin and his Wayfarer Studios production company in December 2024 for alleged defamation and sexual harassment on the set of It Ends With Us, which they starred in together, with Justin also directing.
Justin retaliated the following month with a $400million defamation lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds and the New York Times, which had first published her claims.
All of the parties in the lawsuits denied the allegations against them.
In October 2025, a judge dismissed Justin’s case, and in May of this year, after a judge dismissed most of Blake’s claims, she agreed to settle the case.
Blake was not paid any money in the settlement, but Judge Lewis Liman, who presided over the case at a New York court, did allow her to seek legal fees solely related to Justin’s failed case against her.
Taylor’s reported fallout with the actress happened after she was subpoenaed in the her lawsuit against Justin, before the subpoena was later withdrawn.
Taylor, whose hit song My Tears Ricochet was featured on the soundtrack of Justin’s 2024 film It Ends With Us – where he starred alongside Blake – was pulled into the rollercoaster saga last year when Justin filed a $400million countersuit accusing Blake and her husband of defamation. The suit was later thrown out.

Explosive text messages from Justin’s complaint revealed Blake had referred to the superstar singer and her husband as ‘my dragons’ in a bid to intimidate him over the ill-fated flick.
In January, a source told DailyMail.com: ‘Her friends also think that Blake’s “I’m Khaleesi, and like her, I happen to have dragons” text to Justin was uncool and unnecessary because she was essentially used as an intimidation tactic. She was referred to as some kind of pet or possession.’
Since then, Taylor has reportedly been trying to distance herself from the scandal as well as her friendship with Blake.
Those efforts have included icing Blake out of her inner circle while Travis unfollowed Ryan on Instagram.
Taylor and Blake have been friends for a decade, with the pair celebrating milestones together and the singer even name dropping Blake’s children in her music.
