Tony Romo was arrested for allegedly operating a vehicle while under the influence (OWI) in Milwaukee on Thursday night, Page Six can confirm.
The former NFL star booked the same night and released shortly after, Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Page Six.
Romo, 46, was stopped while traveling on southbound I-43 on the high-rise bridge.
He was taken into custody after performing poorly on the standard field sobriety tests, according to FOX6 News.
Romo is due in court on Sept. 21, the outlet reported.
Page Six has reached out to Romo’s rep for comment.
A first-offense OWI charge in Wisconsin is generally considered a civil offense, typically carrying a fine ranging from $150 to $300.
This is Romo’s first arrest.
The athlete played quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys from 2006 to 2016, setting multiple records including most career touchdown passes with 248.
However, Romo never won a Super Bowl during his 14-year NFL career.
He retired from football in April 2017.
During a recent appearance on the “Pardon My Take” podcast, Romo admitted his lone career regret was never bringing a Super Bowl trophy home to the Cowboys fans.
“That always sticks with me a little bit. Because you give your whole body, heart, soul, everything into it,” he said.
After his retirement, Romo started working for CBS Sports and is currently the network’s lead NFL game color analyst.
As for his personal life, Romo famously dated Jessica Simpson for about two years when he was on the Cowboys.
Since 2011, Romo has been married to former Miss Missouri USA Candice Crawford.
The couple share three sons: Hawkins, 14, Rivers, 12, and Jones McCoy, 8.
