Rosie O’Donnell is relishing her latest role as grandmother, after welcoming her fifth grandchild, Anthony Joel O’Donnell, on March 26.
On Wednesday, the 64-year-old expat comedian shared an adorable new snap of the four-month-old infant making eye contact and grinning into the lens.
O’Donnell, who boasts 5.1 million social media followers, captioned the picture: ‘My beautiful grandson Anthony.’ Her newest grandchild was born to her son Blake and his wife Teresa.
‘Watching my 26-year-old son hold his baby is the most indescribable joy that I’ve ever experienced in my life,’ the 12-time Emmy winner said in her People cover story Wednesday.
‘I want to be here for all of it, you know. I really do. I’m very stunned and surprised all the time by the fact that children need their parents through their whole life. And when you were robbed of that, you don’t know that. I kind of love seeing the fact that my kids still need me.’
O’Donnell, who revealed that Blake pleaded with her to move back to New York, relocated to Dublin with her 13-year-old non-binary child Clay in January 2025 ahead of President Donald Trump’s second term.

‘My son said, “Mommy, I want you to move back. I want you to be around my baby. I want you to be around us,”‘ the Long Island native recalled.
‘That really hit home because I understand and, you know, the joy that I feel being around him and this newborn… Again, I don’t have the words for it. I get so much fulfillment watching him parent this child that he adores [and] adores him right back. It’s an amazing feeling. Something I never really anticipated.’
The Daily Mail has reached out to O’Donnell’s rep for comment, but did not immediately hear back.
The former talk show host, whose grandparents were from Ireland, is still reportedly ‘in the process’ of obtaining Irish citizenship.
While Trump has threatened to strip O’Donnell of her American citizenship, he cannot legally do so under the 14th Amendment, which grants citizenship to all persons born or naturalized in the States.
The Unleashing Hope producer-star didn’t get to properly bond with her four older grandchildren through her 28-year-old incarcerated daughter, Chelsea.
‘[She] was in the throes of addiction during the life of those kids,’ O’Donnell said.
‘She’s been sober now for a year and a half, and that’s a pretty big thing. But I never got to see her as a mother with those children. I recently visited her in prison, which was overwhelmingly emotional, but I saw the kid that I used to know before she left home.’
Chelsea, who was convicted of meth possession, bail jumping and resisting/obstructing an officer, reportedly ‘ran away at age 17 to be with her birth mother’ and live in a ‘drug-addled community in Wisconsin.’
‘There’s finally hope on the horizon,’ the Substack streamer said.

‘I do worry what will happen when she gets out. It’s hard to hope because it’s been so devastating as so many people know. She calls every day and we talk.’
O’Donnell welcomed Chelsea, Blake, 31-year-old son Parker and 23-year-old daughter Vivienne during her three-year relationship with first ex-wife Kelli Carpenter, which ended in 2007.
The And Just Like That guest star adopted Clay, formerly known as Dakota, during her two-year marriage to late second ex-wife Michelle Rounds, which ended in 2015.
O’Donnell currently stars in her one-woman show Rosie O’Donnell: Common Knowledge, which runs through August 8 at the Daryl Roth Theatre
The funnywoman will portray Brenda in Frankie Shaw’s black comedy heist film 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank – hitting US theaters next month – alongside Liam Neeson and Jim Sturgess.
O’Donnell also ‘can’t wait’ to guest host a week of episodes of Jimmy Kimmel Live while the titular 58-year-old host enjoys his summer vacation.
