The Block 2026 is set to premiere in just a few weeks, with tools officially down at the Mount Eliza construction site on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula.
This season promises just as much drama and competition as the last, but the biggest surprise may be what happened before filming even began.
The Daily Mail has heard from multiple sources that this year’s hottest couple, Chantelle Green and Wyatt Randall, had split up before production even started.
In Channel Nine’s promos for the show, they have been introduced as a loved-up Gold Coast couple ready to renovate their way to victory.
When the fitness-focused pair were unveiled, the network highlighted their successful businesses, social media following and passion for health and wellness.
According to press material, the pair co-founded the fitness app FindingForm, while mother-of-three Chantelle is the founder of Her Form Activewear.

Wyatt, an Army veteran, Type 1 diabetes advocate, fitness coach and talent agency owner, says his mission is to ‘motivate, educate and show others that no obstacle is too big to overcome’.
Working side by side on their businesses was presented as the ideal preparation for the pressures of The Block.
However, those close to the couple say things were very different behind the scenes.
‘They had already gone their separate ways before filming,’ one Gold Coast source told the Daily Mail.
‘People around them were surprised when they heard they were doing The Block together because everyone thought the relationship had already ended.’
Another source said news of the pair’s casting quickly became a talking point in Gold Coast fitness circles.
‘Their break-up was one of the worst-kept secrets on the Gold Coast,’ they said. ‘People were talking about it well before filming started.’
Multiple insiders claim the pair proceeded with the show after being cast, despite no longer being in a romantic relationship, because it was such a great opportunity for them both.

Should reality shows cast couples with hidden breakups, or is it unfair to viewers and other contestants?
‘People around them were surprised when they heard they were doing The Block together because everyone thought the relationship had already ended,’ said a Gold Coast source
However, one source offered a slightly different version of events, saying they ‘decided to get back together when they were offered a spot’.
Whatever the case, the pair’s unusual dynamic did not go unnoticed on set, with Chantelle and Wyatt regularly the subject of behind-the-scenes chatter.
‘People noticed something wasn’t quite right,’ a Block insider said.
‘Whether any of that makes it to air remains to be seen.’
One television source said the situation caught producers off guard.
‘Every year, The Block has a major talking point but this wasn’t something producers expected,’ they said.
‘It’s not the sort of storyline you can manufacture.’
Since filming wrapped, multiple sources have told the Daily Mail that Wyatt has moved on and is now in a new relationship.
Meanwhile, Chantelle is believed to be focusing on her family and business ventures ahead of the season premiere.
Nevertheless, those close to the pair insist there is no bad blood.
‘They’re both just getting on with their lives,’ a source claimed. ‘Now they’re waiting to see how the audience reacts once the show begins.’
The Daily Mail has contacted Nine for comment.
