Any A-list-level airport look requires a pair of shoes that are equal parts comfortable and cool. And to take it a step further, they really should serve you all trip long — not just on travel days. Whether that’s seeing the sights, hitting happy hour, trekking through train stations or taking the long route to dinner, versatility is key here.
With equal consideration for style and support, these time-tested walking shoes check every box. They’re lightweight yet sturdy, durable yet breathable and easy to match but never boring. They’ve also been worn dozens of times, from international travel to booked-and-busy work days (yes, each of these picks have strutted their way through THR‘s offices).
Below, seven tried-and-true travel sneakers that don’t compromise fashion for function, or vice versa.
Best Travel Sneakers of 2026
Best Overall
Golf le Fleur x Converse 1908 Jogger
Everything about this retro-inspired release from Converse and Tyler, The Creator is spot on — the day-one comfort, the creative colorways and the craftsmanship (they only get better with time). They also fill a major gap in any wardrobe stacked to the brim with chunkier sneaker styles.
Because of the 1908 Jogger‘s low-profile and streamlined silhouette, they can be easily dressed up or down — paired with a sundress and cardigan or biker shorts, a graphic tee and a scrunched down pair of socks. This makes them the ideal pair to take you straight from the airport to happy hour. At this price point, there’s no cooler pair of sneakers on the market.
Most Versatile
Nike Zoom Vomero 5
First and foremost, metallic silver is a neutral, which means these Nikes have all the benefits of a classic white sneaker without the monotony (and that’s coming from a white sneaker loyalist). They’re also the quintessential “dad” sneaker without being too “dad.”
Quite possibly my best purchase of 2026, the Vomero 5 is equally suited for flying cross-country or bopping around town. While technically a running shoe, these have maintained their position as a celebrity street style staple thanks to their Y2K aesthetic and effortless “cool” factor. From the gym to the plane to the vineyard (paired with a midi skirt, perhaps), these sneakers have versatility at their core.
Most Elevated
Sandro Light Wave Metallic Leather Sneakers
Back to low-profile silhouettes, Sandro’s Light Wave sneakers are an elevated take on a classic trainer. And if you can get your hands on the silver pair, they are the ultimate on-trend metallic moment.
Everything from the contrasting laces and chic embroidered logo to the appliqué details and supple leather body makes for the crème de la crème of luxury footwear. In fact, the leather is such good quality it’ll start to mold to your feet after only a few wears. And while these sneakers check all the same boxes as the 1908 Joggers, thanks to this pair’s all-over leather construction, they can skew even dressier.
Best for Sneaker Skeptics
Bimba y Lola 13 28 Ballerina Sneaker
For a more feminine alternative to your standard walking shoe, opt for a sneakerina (sneaker-meets-ballet flat), like this suede and nylon pair by Spanish womenswear label Bimba y Lola. These hybrid shoes offer all the traction and stability of a sneaker with the delicate profile and lace-up details you’d get from a ballerina.
While the above pair leans further in the direction of a sneaker, other models — like the Sporty Sneaker from Intentionally Blank — more closely resemble a ballet flat. Additional sneakerina favorites include Puma’s cult-favorite Speedcat and this retro number by Tory Burch (particularly the olive green and red colorway).

Most Comfortable
On Cloudtilt
As a longtime On fan, I was skeptical of the Cloudtilt‘s speed laces (aka no-tie laces). I thought my foot would slip out. I also thought they’d look kind of nerdy. In reality, neither proved to be true. But don’t take my word for it, Zendaya liked them so much she created a special-edition pair, the Cloudtilt Moon, alongside her longtime “Image Architect” Law Roach.
Other than their ease through security (thanks to their slip-on nature), the Cloudtilt is exceptionally lightweight and cushioned, even offering a little bounce with every step. The mesh is breathable and the ombre-like colorways are quite aesthetically pleasing. I took my true size and there is no heel slip whatsoever.
Best for All-Day Wear
K-Swiss KSRC Konejo
Get them while you can: K-Swiss’s KSRC Konejo revival is a limited-run reimagination of the Y2K classic. Ridiculously comfortable from the first wear, these retro runners are the unexpected, “if you know, you know” choice in the world of chunky sneakers.
If you, like me, covet (and can’t stop wearing) the Nike Vomero 5, these are the perfect pair to switch things up. I find myself reaching for them when I want something slightly sleeker than my beloved Nikes, and while the Nikes are a bit more flexible, the K-Swiss runners feel slightly more stable and supportive. For an effortlessly cool outfit formula, pair with slouchy denim and your favorite white tee.
Best Running Shoe
Alo Runner
For an ultra-lightweight running shoe that takes you from the trail to a travel day, the Alo Runner is a no brainer. Thanks to its chic yet sporty style and monochromatic color offerings, the unisex sneaker will quickly become an athleisure essential.
While other sneakers on this list lean more towards lifestyle than training, the Alo Runner really feels like a performance shoe — the best choice to transition you from a workout to the airport. While the all-white and all-black models are clean and classic (I own and frequently wear both), Alo offers limited-edition seasonal colorways if you’re looking to spice up a staple.
