“Love Island USA” fans were left outraged as the results from the first round of voting for Season 8 remain unknown.
Viewers were encouraged to vote on who they thought the three newest bombshells — Sol, Jen, and Caleb — should couple up with via the “Love Island USA” app following Tuesday’s episode.
However, the app glitched while they were trying to submit their votes, which were due by 12 a.m. ET on Wednesday.
Many users encountered an error message and couldn’t vote.
“‘love island usa’ app down??? this is voter suppression,” one user tweeted at the time.
“this f–k ass ‘love island’ app playing with me, i’ve been registered for DAYS now they kicked me out suddenly soon as voting opened and won’t let me register OMFG,” complained another.
In turn, the show tweeted that they were working to fix the problem.
Hours later, the network announced on X that the app had crashed due to fans’ “overwhelming enthusiasm for America’s first vote” and that the voting period had been extended until 3 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. PT on Wednesday.
Fans still expected the results to be revealed during Thursday’s episode. But when they tuned in, the results were not shared and host Ariana Madix didn’t come out to explain the situation.
Narrator Ian Stirling joked about the situation multiple times before confirming that the results had been “postponed” until Friday’s episode.
Fans were not happy with this solution, though, and took their frustrations to social media.
“we should have got 2 episodes of love island today cause why [the f—k] didn’t y’all have voting figured out,” one complained on X.
“Love Island dropping that no recoupling tonight bc voting issues 75% through the episode talk about a buried lede. I could have watched this tomorrow instead of live! Oh well,” another tweeted.
“they didn’t even reveal the votes today this episode could’ve been skipped,” a third groaned.
“7 minutes left of the episode and they haven’t revealed voting results????? Episode could’ve been an email?” a fourth added.
“Love Island USA” viewers can see the results from the first round of voting tonight at 9 p.m. ET on Peacock.
