Joy Behar is stepping away from the “Hot Topics” table — temporarily, of course.
Though the comedian typically doesn’t appear on Monday episodes of “The View,” the June 1 airing marked the beginning of her two-week absence from the daily talk show.
“There’s been a lot of media attention on me lately because I’m taking off the next two weeks,” Behar said on the May 29 episode. “They’re calling it a hiatus. It’s not a hiatus.”
“I’m working,” she explained. “I have a planned trip overseas next week to work on my play, ‘My First Ex-Husband,’ in London.”
This echoed what Behar had previously shared on the May 26 episode of the “Behind the Table” podcast when she told , “I fly to Paris this week, and then I go take the tunnel to London after a week,” she told “The View” executive producer Brian Teta.
The co-host shared that during her week in London she’d be putting on her play, “My First Ex-Husband,” on the West End, noting Jackie Hoffman and two British actors would be joining her in the cast.
The show, which comically tackles themes like marriage and divorce, previously debuted Off-Broadway in New York in February 2025.
Behar said her week in the City of Love will be spent on playwriting “in various cafes” and checking out some art exhibits, including one featuring Matisse.
“Doesn’t that sound like fun,” the TV personality, 83, gushed of the sojourn.
Teta then explained that “various folks” would be filling in for the talk show icon during her two-week hiatus, including Sheryl Underwood, fresh off the Kevin Hart roast special, and Kara Swisher, whom he said “is very funny and smart.”
“Whoopi is going to be here on Fridays,” Teta quipped, adding, “I don’t think she knows that. I’ll let her know.”
Behar, who has been part of “The View” since the show began in 1997 save for two seasons, previously alarmed fans with an unplanned two-episode absence from the show in November 2025.
Goldberg explained at the time that Behar had “hurt her foot.”
