Amy Adams quit Instagram because she says she is ‘kind of boring’.
The 51-year-old actress previously joined the photo-sharing platform, but she hasn’t posted on Instagram since 2021, saying she is routine-driven.
Amy told S Magazine: “It didn’t feel organic. I’m kind of boring.
“I am really routine-driven. I go to the same places. I’m already so settled in my ways that I would have to hunt for something to post about outside of work.”
The Oscar-nominated actress said her late breakthrough in Hollywood helped her to avoid the pitfalls of sudden fame, having landed her first major role in Junebug, the 2005 comedy-drama film, at the age of 31.
She said: “I think coming into the busier, more forward-facing times in my career, I was already into my thirties.
“I came in with my husband already [and] with my friend group. I just kept living.”
Amy now feels more settled and content than ever.
The movie star explained: “I’m more relaxed than I’ve been. I feel more centred than I ever have. I think part of that is just being able to look back and be really grateful for what I’ve been able to do. And then look forward with a lot of excitement for what’s to come.”
Meanwhile, Amy previously admitted that she felt vulnerable and exposed during her early years in Hollywood.
The actress has enjoyed a hugely successful career in the movie business — but Amy initially struggled with self-doubts and vulnerabilities.
The Junebug star told Variety: “I was just very naive, and I think I was really afraid to show any truth or darkness about the flip side of the human experience.
“I would have felt so vulnerable and so exposed.”
Amy is now keen to work with a new generation of actors and actresses.
The movie star revealed that she’s particularly fond of Jenna Ortega, her co-star in Taika Waititi’s Klara and the Sun adaptation.
Amy explained: “I learn so much from the young women that I work with.
“I feel like I learn more from them than they could ever learn from me. I do forget that I’m not their age sometimes. I’m like, ‘Amy, you’re 50. You’re not gonna hang!'”
