Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt have reportedly split just five months after welcoming their daughter Scottie.
Sources claim the pressures of new parenthood and Pete’s relentless work schedule put strain on the relationship.
Former Saturday Night Live star Pete, 32, and model Elsie, 30, are said to have recently called time on their whirlwind romance after going public in March 2025, announcing they were expecting their first child just months later and welcoming Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson in December.
The reported split comes as Pete continues a packed touring and comedy schedule following appearances tied to Netflix’s Netflix Is A Joke festival and the Kevin Hart roast on Mother’s Day, while Elsie has documented the realities of early motherhood on social media.
Pete — also known for films including The King of Staten Island and Bodies Bodies Bodies — has recently made headlines for speaking candidly about fatherhood, mental health and his widely reported tattoo removal transformation, which reportedly cost around $200,000 (S$255,000).
A source told The Sun: “Pete has been travelling so much for work, but Elsie was craving more support from him at home after their daughter was born.”
The insider added: “It was very hard for him because, obviously, he has to work to make money.”
Another source claimed the pair are now “just focusing 100 per cent” on their daughter, adding: “Working out the best co-parenting solution is their top priority.”
According to the report, concerns about the state of the relationship intensified last month when Pete allegedly began selling off parts of his property portfolio, including his Staten Island condo, in order to “open up funds as they move forward and figure out their next steps”.
Amid the reported split, Elsie shared a candid glimpse into life as a new mother on Instagram Stories on Thursday (May 14).
Posting a tired-looking selfie, she wrote: “When you finally get screaming baby down for a nap and you exhale and sit with yourself for a second and realise you haven’t breathed for an hour or peed all day.”
She added: “The silence is deafening.”
In another post, Elsie wrote simply: “I am a zombie.”
The social media updates came after Elsie marked her first Mother’s Day with a tribute to daughter Scottie that did not include Pete.
She wrote: “We’re all here because of a mother’s sacrifice to make herself your first home. I got to be Scottie’s. Greatest honour of my life. Happy mother’s day.”
Pete, meanwhile, recently raised eyebrows while accepting a Special Achievement Award at the 30th Annual Webby Awards, where he joked he was “still dead inside”.
Pete publicly painted a happier picture of family life earlier this year.
Speaking to People, he said: “Dad life is f****** awesome”, while describing Elsie as “a fantastic mom”.
Another source told the Daily Mail: “Not one of Pete’s friends is surprised that there are relationship issues with him and Elsie.”
The insider added: “This is what he ends up doing always. She was also warned well ahead of time in their relationship to be careful with him, because Pete loves to self-sabotage a good thing.”
The source continued: “Making him the funny guy that all the girls want to fix, when he just might be unfixable.”
Pete’s dating history has long attracted public fascination, with previous relationships including Ariana Grande, Kim Kardashian, Kate Beckinsale and Kaia Gerber.
Elsie was previously linked to Ted Lasso actor Jason Sudeikis and music producer Benny Blanco, who is now engaged to Selena Gomez.
As recently as January, Pete and Elsie had spoken enthusiastically about expanding their family.
Speaking to Us Weekly, Pete said: “We want her to have a friend, for sure. We love the idea of her being a big sister.”
Elsie added: “The idea of making another one and making a sibling is something I’ve already been like: ‘I want to do it again.’ They’re so tiny when they come out, and they grow so fast. It’s crazy.”
Last month, while performing in Las Vegas at the Fontainebleau hotel, Pete also joked about becoming a father during his stand-up set.
According to Us Weekly, he told the audience: “(I) got a little girl. It’s weird having a little girl.”
He added: “It is hard to watch porn… in front of her,” before joking: “I still did. I power through.”
