Pete Davidson made a telling remark while attending the 30th Annual Webby Awards on Monday, amid rumors that he has split from baby mama Elsie Hewitt.
The comedian, 32, accepted a Special Achievement Award for his impact in the comedy space from pal Machine Gun Kelly, 36, at the event, held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
Dressed in a leather varsity jacket and blue jeans, the father-of-one told the star-studded crowd: ‘Thanks, I’m still dead inside.’
The pointed quip – which was made as part of the five-word acceptance speech rule – came following reports that he and Hewitt, 30, the mother of his five-month-old daughter Scottie Rose, have been experiencing ‘issues’ in their relationship.
The pair welcomed their baby in December and, as Davidson pivoted to fatherhood, he spent a rumored $200,000 removing his prodigious sprawl of tattoos.
However, a source recently told the Daily Mail that the couple’s dynamic ‘immediately changed when she became pregnant.’

On Sunday, Hewitt shed light on the ‘sacrifice’ of welcoming a child into the world as she celebrated her first Mother’s Day.
‘We’re all here because of a mother’s sacrifice to make herself your first home. i got to be Scottie’s,’ she wrote in an Instagram caption. ‘Greatest honor of my life. happy mother’s day.’
The post came after a source claimed to People in an article published earlier this month: ‘There are issues, but they’re trying to figure things out together.’
In public, Davidson has painted a rosy portrait of his household, gushing that ‘Dad life is f***ing awesome’ and that Hewitt is ‘a fantastic mom,’ to People.
However a source told the Daily Mail: ‘Not one of Pete’s friends is surprised that there are relationship issues with him and Elsie.’
The insider explained: ‘This is what he ends up doing always. She was also warned well ahead of time in their relationship to be careful with him, because Pete loves to self-sabotage a good thing.’
Davidson’s ‘insecurities are such a crutch for him in his life that he uses humor to make sense of it all,’ the source elaborated.
‘Making him the funny guy that all the girls want to fix, when he just might be unfixable. He rushes into a relationship, it’s all hot and heavy and exciting and before the person he’s dating knows it, they are in an intense all or nothing relationship not knowing how to continue it or stay in it with that continued intensity.’

The insider added: ‘And now they are parents, which they love, but the pregnancy was unplanned and their dynamic immediately changed when she became pregnant, and they are trying to figure out the next steps as they want to be together for their kid, but it just might not be their endgame.’
Clarifying the status of their relationship, the Daily Mail’s source said Hewitt and Davidson are not ‘fully broken up, but it is absolutely leading to it.’
Davidson, whose father Scott lost his life as a fireman on 9/11, ‘doesn’t want the relationship to end because he wants his daughter to have the luxury of having a complete family, something he wasn’t afforded himself,’ the source said.
Hewitt meanwhile ‘would like that to happen as well, but dealing with Pete can be very overbearing,’ the insider acknowledged.
Aside from his reported relationship woes, Davidson also recently landed in hot water over some of his jokes – which Machine Gun Kelly, also known as MGK, acknowledged while introducing the comedian at Monday’s Webby Awards.
MGK praised Davidson for being ‘fearless’ as he referenced the recent joke scandal, which took place at The Roast of Kevin Hart.
‘He was sharing a lot of his jokes that he was going to do for the Kevin Hart roast last week, and what stuck out to me was that he would tell me some of the jokes and he never asked me, “Oh, is this too much?” or “Is it gonna offend anybody?”‘
‘He just told me the jokes and it made me realize that, you know, he’s fearless, like great comedy is supposed to be raw, authentic, and he puts his own self on the line to make us all laugh and think.’

Davidson made a controversial joke about Charlie Kirk’s assassination and also called former rival Kanye West a ‘gay Nazi’
Davidson made a controversial joke about Charlie Kirk’s assassination as he also called former rival Kanye West a ‘gay Nazi.’
Conservative commentator Kirk was assassinated at age 31 on September 10, 2025 after being shot in the neck during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University.
Davidson made light of the assassination as he performed at the show on Sunday night, which was livestreamed on Netflix.
He was poking fun at fellow performer Tony Hinchcliffe when he made the disgusting joke as he said: ‘Tony reminds me of Charlie Kirk, in that he’s definitely been on camera letting a guy unload in his throat.’
‘Oh, you don’t know me? Kill Tony. Please someone f***ing kill Tony.’
Davidson and MGK were also pictured mingling with Druski at the event, who recently cruelly mocked Kirk’s widow Erika.
Druski was also a recipient of the 2026 Webby Special Achievement Award. The Webby Awards celebrate digital excellence and the trailblazing personalities shaping online culture.
Last month Druski shared a video captioned ‘How Conservative Women in America act,’ which saw the 31-year-old comedian recreate and mock viral videos of Erika during her public appearances after her husband was fatally shot.
Davidson did not stop with the distasteful joke about Kirk as he also made a wild joke about West, 48, four years after their infamous beef over Kim Kardashian.

He and 48-year-old rapper famously went back-and-forth in ugly social media exchanges centered around the 45-year-old SKIMS mogul while she was dating the former.
In 2022, Davidson famously ended up in ‘trauma therapy’ as a result of online bullying he received at the hand of West despite trading his own barbs and even sending the rapper a photo of himself in bed with Kardashian before their divorce was made official.
Now four years later, Davidson has blasted West once again as he joked: ‘I was in a beef with Kanye, so I’ve taken shots from better gay Nazis.’
West has famously made antisemitic remarks over the years and back in January he released a lengthy statement apologizing for his controversial statements.
