Cody Simpson has revealed he is battling a serious health issue that has forced him to temporarily step back from his singing career.
The Australian singer, 29, took to social media on Tuesday, sharing a photo of himself hooked up to an EKG monitor as he opened up about the full extent of what he’s been dealing with behind the scenes.
‘Hey guys. I originally thought I could keep this private but it’s time I share what I’ve been going through. Just over a month ago we discovered a serious haemorrhage on one of my vocal cords,’ Cody began.
He explained the injury was triggered after pushing through illness while working in the studio, a decision that ultimately caught up with him.
‘It occurred due to my overzealousness in the studio singing, through a sinus infection I didn’t know I had. Assumed it was just fatigue and kept showing up to the studio until one day I could no longer sing,’ he wrote.
The setback has already disrupted key career commitments, including scheduled promotional appearances, while also putting his upcoming music plans on hold.

‘I’ve now been on and off vocal rest for weeks, cancelling TV and radio performances in the process.
‘This has also affected my ability to complete the album and polish up the next singles. I’ve just been prescribed another 2 weeks of silence in hopes of avoiding a surgery which demands a much longer recovery process.
‘I’m back in the studio now writing strictly as a lyricist on mute with my collaborators, and hearing/writing my vocal melodies on my guitar (which I will eventually replace with my voice when I’m able to). Where there’s a will, there’s a way.’
Despite the uncertainty, Cody says he is trying to reframe the experience as a forced reset rather than a setback.
‘I’d like to bring you on the journey. I’ve been extremely up and down but am now reframing this as a realignment for the long-term good,’ he wrote.
The sad news comes as Cody revealed he had swapped the pool for the gym – and the results are impossible to miss.
Last month, the Aussie swimming champ soaked up the spotlight in Los Angeles, where he was spotted striding across the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, as he lived it up and enjoyed his newly single life.
He showed off a noticeably more muscular physique in a social media post, flexing his buff frame as cameras rolled on the famous strip as he promoted his latest song, When It Comes to Loving You.

In scenes from the clip, Cody goes shirtless and appears smeared in fake blood as he gets caught up in a gritty play fight – channelling Brad Pitt’s iconic Tyler Durden from the 1999 cult classic Fight Club.
Leaning into the edgy aesthetic, Cody was also seen posing in front of an LA billboard promoting the project, which features a striking image of the star alongside the cheeky slogan: ‘The first rule of Cody Simpson is you do not talk about Cody Simpson.’
The singer later shared a gallery of behind-the-scenes snaps to Instagram, captioning the post simply: ‘one of the happier chaps.’
Fresh out of his high-profile split, Cody was thriving – and it showed.
The singer looked leaner, stronger and noticeably more sculpted, with his toned arms and chiselled torso on full display as he worked up a sweat during filming.
Earlier this year, Cody gave fans an update on his relationship status, after his split with Emma McKeon.
It was revealed in February that Cody and Emma had called time on their relationship after four years together.
Following the news, Cody was dogged by persistent romance rumours, particularly after being spotted looking very cosy with American influencer Adelia Clark last month.
Taking to Instagram and TikTok, the pop star revealed that he is taking some ‘me time’ following his split with Emma.
