Sophie Habboo has revealed she ‘fell in love’ with the doctor who delivered her and her husband Jamie Laing’s baby as the couple returned to their podcast.
The former Made In Chelsea stars, who gained legions of fans thanks to their Nearlyweds podcast, have returned with a new iteration, called Newly Parents.
Sophie, 31, and Jamie, 37, welcomed their first child – a son named Ziggy – last December and have been taking time away from the podcast ever since.
Returning with the first episode on Monday, the couple shared some of their experiences as parents, including the birth of their son.
During their time in the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, Sophie admitted she grew very fond of her doctor, Dr Tariq, and thought about setting him up with her mum.
Revealing his wife’s affection for the doctor, Jamie said: ‘Sophie fell in love with our doctor, Dr Tariq, to the point where we had to go and see him afterwards…
Sophie then injected: ‘Sophie says don’t, Tariq might watch this, what about when we have our second baby. He’s going to say I can’t work with you, it’s inappropriate..

Jamie clarified: ‘Sophie you’re not actually in love with him…’
She agreed: ‘I’m not actually in love with him, I love him…’
Jamie then recalled: ‘When we left him for the last time, Sophie was like what? do I not get to see him again?’
She explained: ‘It was so sad, we went for our six week check up he just signed us off and said good luck, I thought aren’t you upset? Because I am? We have a bond and a connection, he couldn’t give a f**k, he didn’t even look up from his paper. He was like “have a nice summer”.
Jamie then revealed that Dr Tariq – who is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist – had sent a special video message into the podcast, leaving Sophie looking slightly mortified.
He said: ‘Hi Sophie, hi Jamie! Congratulations you guys, I can’t believe it’s already more than four months since you welcomed Ziggy.
‘I guess it’s a bit like trying to control a runaway train at the moment, a small baby, sleepless nights, dirty nappies, you guys were brilliant. Sophie it seemed to me that you took to being a mother like a duck to water.
‘I’m sure it’s been tough but I hope you’re managing to find the time to enjoy it, things change very quickly at this stage! Don’t be wishing any of it away. In some ways this is the easier time, because bigger children equals bigger problems as they say!
‘It’s an absolute privilege to have been involved, it always is to be a part of something as special as having a baby. I hope you guys are having a wonderful time, take care!’

Gushing over Tariq once more, Sophie said: ‘Oh he’s so cute! He’s so lovely, we love Tariq. He’s got the most lovely voice.
Jamie then revealed: ‘Tariq, listen, you absolute stud! By the way we don’t know his marital status, if he’s single or in a relationship. But at one point we were so in love with him we thought maybe we should set him up with your mum.’
Sophie admitted: ‘I was like, he needs to be my step dad! And I think he was like, oh my god! That’s why he didn’t look up when he said bye to me, he was like… just leave!’
Over the weekend, Sophie and Jamie left fans in stitches after transforming into their aged selves to announce the return of their joint podcast.
They began their podcast NearlyWeds after getting engaged, before switching the name to NewlyWeds after tying the knot in 2023.
After announcing they were expecting their first child together last year, the podcast became NearlyParents, before they put it on hold with the arrival of their son Ziggy in December.
However, the couple have now brought the podcast back, titled NewlyParents.
To celebrate their return, the pair donned grey wigs, detailed wrinkle prosthetics, grey hair and specialised makeup to become elderly versions of themselves for a hilarious and wild advert.
The video sees an elderly Jamie holding an equally elderly-looking Sophie’s hand as she lies in a hospital bed, surrounded by photos of their life as a couple together.

While many are real snapshots from their wedding day and the birth of their baby son Ziggy, there are also digitally created shots of the pair aged up, as well as shots of them on the moon and one of a newspaper announcing Jamie as Prime Minister.
Old Jamie then tells his wife: ‘I still can’t believe we did that. What a ride we had. You know I’ve been thinking. There’s one thing that I really regret. That we didn’t bring the podcast back one more time.’
However, suddenly Sophie begins flat-lining, causing Jamie to panic and call for help and beg: ‘No Sophie, wake up! Forget I mentioned the podcast, I didn’t mean it. Wake up please!’
She suddenly wakes up as her normal 31-year-old self in bed, breathing a sigh of relief as she says: ‘Oh my god I just had the worst nightmare, thank god it isn’t real’.
However, upon looking at the bottom of her bed she’s shocked to see Jamie holding Ziggy and surrounded by an entire crew with cameras, lightening and sound equipment, as he declares: ‘We’re back baby!’
The video had fans in stitches, including several of their famous fans with Dani Dyer and Tasha Ghouri both commenting a string of laughing emojis, while Sophie’s BFF Melissa Tattam writing: ‘Omg I’m laughing but also made me cry lol’.
While fans couldn’t help but poke fun at the pair’s make-up, with many quipping that Jamie resembled Dr. Seuss character, The Lorax, Ellen Degeneres or the late Bruce Forsyth.
They wrote: ‘All I can think about watching this is how much you all would have howled with laughter doing this makeup and pretending to be old. welcome back ❤️’
‘omg this is the best advert i’ve ever seen. can you make the @johnlewis christmas ad this year please?’; ‘Wait. Why was this actually quite moving’.
‘Thought this was a trailer for NearlyDead’; ‘So glad you guys are back. My emotional support podcast. I’ve been lost without you every week’;
‘The fact Jamie still thinks he’s going to have that much hair by the time he’s an OAP’; ‘Jamie looks like the Lorax’;

‘Its giving young Bruce Forsyth’; ‘Jamey you look the spitting image of the Actor Leslie Phillips DING DONG’; ‘Best couple on social media ❤️❤️we love you both ❤️❤️’;
‘Not me thinking this was Ellen’; ‘Can’t wait to hear you guys again ….. Your advert made me laugh so much!!!’.
It comes after Jamie revealed he wants three more children and hit out at modern parents for ‘mollycoddling’ their children.
Speaking to The Times earlier this week, he said: ‘Our son was born in December, so we’re juggling the joys of new parenthood at the moment, which is a wild ride. I can’t really think beyond that… but I’d go for four, potentially.
‘I’ve heard that going from one to two is a big adjustment. Then from two to three is, like, whatever. Once you have three you may as well have ten.’
Jamie went on to stress that children need to learn resilience for themselves and it’s finding a ‘balance’ of not overprotecting them.
The TV personality said: ‘If I fell off my bike as a kid it was, pick yourself up and let’s keep going. I actually think that’s a really good thing to instil in kids. Modern-day parenting is a bit too mollycoddling.
‘In some ways my mum’s parenting style was probably to leave me in a pram underneath a tree. I don’t think that’s necessarily a good idea. But also, it’s OK for your child to be stung by a nettle — it’s not going to kill them. It’s a balance, of course.’
Jamie and Sophie documented her pregnancy and the birth of son Ziggy in their Disney+ show, Raising Chelsea, which dropped last month.
