Bosses at Tangará Palace, the hotel where pop star Chappell Roan’s security guard is said to have left Jude Law’s 11-year-old daughter in tears, have broken their silence to side with the girl’s version of events.
Jude’s daughter Ada was staying with her mother Catherine Harding and stepfather, Brazilian footballer Jorginho, at the luxury hotel when she recognised Roan having breakfast and smiled as she walked past, without approaching or asking for a photo.
However, Jorginho claims the situation escalated moments later when a security guard, believed to be connected to the singer, confronted the girl and her mother.
The pair were allegedly accused of harassment and warned they could be reported to the hotel – an exchange Jorginho said left the girl shaken and in tears.
Chappell, 28, has faced huge backlash after Jorginho shared his version of events on Instagram and said Ada was threatened by the singer’s bodyguard.

Roan later addressed the controversy, insisting she had no knowledge of the incident at the time and that the guard was not part of her personal team, while expressing regret over the distress caused.
Chappell has insisted she was not aware of the incident, and a new statement has insisted the singer has ‘zero tolerance’ for such behaviour toward fans.
‘Chappell was not aware of any interaction between this mother/daughter and a third-party security office,’ a spokesperson for the star said on Monday.
‘She did not see them at breakfast in her hotel, as she said in her video. She did not direct her personal security or anyone on her team to interact with them.’
‘Chappell holds her own teams to the highest standards and has zero tolerance for any kind of aggressive behaviour towards her or her fans.’
But Ada’s mother Catherine said the security guard spoke in an ‘aggressive tone’ to ‘berate and scold’ her daughter.
She added that anyone acting on behalf of an artist reflects on them – further fuelling the row.
Now the Tangará Palace, São Paulo’s most luxurious hotel, has waded into the row – appearing to distance itself from the singer and subtly back Harding’s account that the security guard was not hotel staff.

Jorginho’s wife, Catherine Harding, who shares Ada with her ex partner Jude Law, claims the ‘aggressive’ security guard ‘berated’ her after her daughter had walked past Chappell’s table
In a statement shared with Brazil’s showbiz columnist Leo Dias, the hotel said it could not comment on specific incidents involving guests due to strict privacy policies.
However, it added that: ‘Statements from Jorginho and his wife make it clear that the hotel is not involved in the situation involving the singer.’
The intervention has added a new twist to the increasingly public dispute, with fans and commentators divided over where responsibility lies.
To add to the intrigue, the statement has since been deleted from the Leo Dias site.
Fans on Reddit commented on the latest twist. One, SneakyFire23, wrote: ‘The hotel and the other side say “it wasn’t hotel security”, so… leaves one of Roan’s people. If they disputed the assertion, I don’t think they’d have repeated it.’
Another, Thenedslittlegirl, agreed: ‘It’s a PR statement by a company that can’t publicly be seen to choose between two warring guests. But by reiterating what one of the guests says about it not being their security, they are actually confirming it’s not their security.’
Another, Starrylightway, wrote: ‘I think the statement is very clear in that the security involved wasn’t the hotel’s security…
‘The only other security that would have an interest is Roan’s. Whether it was her personal security or security hired for this particular event is semantics…
‘Treating people like that security guard did for being in the same space as another is unacceptable.’
Cent_Silvr_Spoon0130 replied: ‘If it wasn’t Chappell’s personal security, he was still assigned to her. Who on her team agreed to hire someone who would shout at a child?’
The Tangara Palace is widely regarded as one of São Paulo’s most exclusive addresses – a five-star urban resort often dubbed Brazil’s answer to the Taj Mahal, where rooms start at around £435 a night.
The hotel, originally designed by famed Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer and landscape artist Roberto Burle Marx – best known for the iconic Copacabana beach promenade – sits at the end of a private road within 26 acres of preserved Atlantic rainforest, in the heart of South America’s largest city.
Its secluded setting, shielded from the bustle of São Paulo, is said to be a major draw for high-profile guests seeking privacy away from prying eyes.
The 141-room hotel, home to a Michelin-starred restaurant overseen by renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, is a magnet for the global elite – regularly hosting Formula One drivers, including Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, during the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Sir Paul McCartney has also stayed at the Tangará on multiple occasions.
The Royal Suite, at 560 square metres, is one of the largest in the country and can cost up to £4,800 per night.
Guests routinely heap praise on the retreat, with one describing it as an “absolutely sensational hotel” combining luxury, gastronomy and nature, while another hailed it as the “best hotel experience” of their life.
