Jennifer Lopez was “about to give up on it all” following her divorce from Marc Anthony.
The 56-year-old singer struggled after her and the 57-year-old actor’s marriage was finalised in 2014 after 10 years of marriage.
Jennifer – who has 18-year-old twins Max and Emme with singer Marc – recalled that “really tough time” on stage at her Up All Night Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Friday (March 6)
In a video shared on Instagram, she first quipped: “After my third divorce – that’s when I really started getting good at it. Seriously, that’s not funny.”
The On the Floor hitmaker continued: “It was actually a really tough time. I was really about to give up on it all. I mean, I was a single mom with two three-year-old twins.”
But some advice from one of her mentors, the late author Louise Hay, made the Kiss of the Spider Woman actress bounce back from her and Marc’s divorce – which he filed a year after their split in 2011, citing “irreconcilable differences”.
Jennifer recalled: “She said to me, ‘Jennifer, you’re a dancer, right?’ I said, ‘Yes, I am.’
“And she said, ‘When you’re learning a dance, and you get the steps wrong, what do you do?’ I said, ‘I just keep going until I get the steps right.’
“And she said, ‘That’s right, Jennifer. Always keep dancing.'”
Jennifer then passed the same words of advice to her fans in the audience.
As she pointed to the crowd, the Love Don’t Cost a Thing singer said: “And I wish the same for each and every one of you, that no matter what life throws at you, that you dance, and you dance, and you dance. Again, and again, and again.
“I love you so much.”
Jennifer’s first marriage came in 1997 to actor Ojani Noa, now 51. However, they divorced in 1998.
The singer then met dancer Cris Judd, now 56, on the set of her music video for Love Don’t Cost a Thing, and they got hitched in 2001. But Jennifer filed for divorce a year later, citing “irreconcilable differences”, and it was finalised in 2003.
And more recently, Jennifer filed for divorce from actor Ben Affleck, 53, in August 2024 after two years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences”. It was finalised in January 2025.
