Britney Spears was arrested for a DUI in Westlake Village, California this week.
Now TMZ has reported that pills were found in her car. The pills are currently being tested to see if they contain a narcotic, the site claimed.
The site also reported that if the substance does indeed test positive for a narcotic, the pop star may be looking at jail time.
Daily Mail has reached out to Spears’ representatives for comment.
Being caught with drugs, especially while driving, can lead to charges for both drug possession and ‘drug-impaired driving’ (DUID), which may result in penalties ranging from 48 hours to over a year in jail, hefty fines and license suspension, according to the Kann California Law Group.
But if there are no narcotics involved, the Toxic crooner will likely not get any jail time, an attorney has told Daily Mail.
Los Angeles entertainment and trial attorney Tre Lovell told Daily Mail, ‘If she was swerving in lanes and allegedly failed sobriety tests, that supports the police pulling her over and arresting her, so it looks like cops did everything right in that regard.’

‘Absent a crash or property damage, extremely high driving speed or extremely high blood alcohol content, Spears faces a very low likelihood of jail time.’
Lab results are outstanding and it has not been determined that she was in fact under the influence. But if she were, Lovell said, ‘With respect to the DUI, if this is her first, chances are she won’t get jail time.
‘She’ll probably get probation, a fine, have to take a DUI education course and she may lose her license, unless she convinces the DMV otherwise at a DMV hearing.
‘Once she completes probation and completes the classes and pays the penalties, her record could be expunged.
‘They’re going to look at how she was stopped and the arrest to make sure there was a reasonable suspicion to detain her, and if there’s probable cause to arrest. All that will go into whether or not if they’re going to charge and what charges they will seek.’

The Daily Mail reported that police identified the vehicle as a 2026 black BMW convertible.
In a 911 dispatch recording obtained by the outlet, officers described the unfolding incident as they tracked the vehicle along the highway.

One dispatcher said: ‘A black sedan, erratic braking, swerving and driving with no tail light.’
Another officer asked colleagues: ‘Can we send all units down towards this area please?’ as updates on the car’s location were relayed over the call.
Dispatchers later confirmed the vehicle’s details before officers approached the driver.
Around 9.13pm, a dispatcher stated: ‘Driver is out of the vehicle.’
An officer added shortly afterwards: ‘Talking with the driver.’
Following the stop, officers on the call discussed next steps, including requesting a Drug Recognition Expert – a specialist trained by the California Highway Patrol to assess whether a driver is impaired.
In the recording, another officer is heard trying to arrange for the expert to attend the scene as quickly as possible.
Shortly after the dispatch audio became public, TMZ reported an unknown substance was allegedly discovered in the vehicle and would be included in the arrest report.
Spears’ representative has said the singer needs ‘help and support’ after she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The troubled singer, 44, was taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol at about 9.30pm on Wednesday in Ventura County, with reports saying she was handcuffed on suspicion of DUI and booked early on Thursday morning at about 3am before being released around 6am.

Shortly after the news of her arrest broke, a representative for the star told the Daily Mail: ‘This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable.
‘Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life.
‘Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.’
Referring to the two sons she shares with her ex Kevin Federline, 47 – Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19 – the representative added: ‘(Britney’s) boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being.’
Ventura County sheriff records show Britney is scheduled to appear in court on 4 May.
Spears has not publicly commented on the arrest.
