Amy Winehouse’s troubled ex-husband may not even know the mother of his two children has recently died, his own mother has said.
Blake Fielder-Civil, whose life has been blighted by years of drug addiction, prison spells and personal tragedy, is so cut off from his fragmented family that he may not have been told of the death of Sarah Aspin, 47.
Ms Aspin – who was once in a love triangle involving the Back to Black singer and Field-Civil – was found dead at her council maisonette in Leeds, West Yorkshire, on Saturday morning.
Her death is currently being treated as unexplained.
And Fielder-Civil’s mother said that although she was ‘absolutely devastated’ by the news she feared her son’s chaotic existence meant he may not yet be aware.
Georgette Fielder-Civil said: ‘It’s absolutely tragic – truly tragic.
‘[But] I would have thought Blake doesn’t know.’
And she added: ‘Sarah spent a considerable amount of time at my house. To me, she was just Sarah.

‘My heart goes out to her mum. It really does.’
Fielder-Civil was married to Winehouse from 2007 to 2009 and has previously admitted introducing the singer to heroin for the first time.
Many fans blame the former music video assistant for her descent into drink and drugs before her untimely death in 2011 aged just 27.
Aged 43, he is now living in a small bedsit in graffiti-covered converted flats in the Headingley area of Leeds.
Neighbours claim the block is well frequented by drug users and the smell of cannabis regularly hangs in the air.
When the Daily Mail visited the ramshackle property, there was no sign of Fielder-Civil.
Pinned to the door of his flat was an emblem of his beloved Millwall FC.
Locals described the area, in the city’s student heartland, as blighted by addicts, though said Fielder-Civil himself keeps a low profile.
One neighbour claimed he ‘keeps his head down’ and ‘never talks about Amy’.
They said: ‘Blakey is alright, he keeps himself to himself. But from what happened with Amy, and where she took him, to where he is now. It’s crazy.
‘He keeps his head down. He’s not an issue. But other people are up to all sorts.’
Ms Aspin first met Fielder-Civil during a spell in rehab in 2009, while he continued his on-off relationship with Winehouse into 2010.
The couple welcomed son Jack in May 2011, following by daughter Lola-Rose in April 2013, though their relationship was overshadowed by his tangled love life.
Both children were later adopted and the couple reportedly split in 2018.

Ms Aspin, who was also said to have struggled with addiction, was discovered at around 8am on Saturday after police were called following a concern-for-safety report.
Paramedics treated her at the scene but she was pronounced dead a short time later. A man found at the property was arrested for an offence not related to her death.
Mrs Fielder Civil said the news had left her ‘devastated’, adding: ‘I know she had her troubles.
‘I’m absolutely heartbroken that she never dealt with the demons.’
The deaths of Amy and Ms Aspin are not the only tragedies to have haunted Fielder-Civil’s life.
In April 2021, his younger brother Freddie, 27, died from a heroin overdose after absconding from a mental health unit and checking into a £40-a-night B&B in Leeds, where he injected himself.
His mother has spent years fighting for answers over his death.
Fielder-Civil himself has battled addiction for years and reportedly overdosed in 2012 after discovering messages sent by Winehouse shortly before her death.

In 2011, Ms Aspin revealed visiting Fielder Civil at HMP Leeds shortly after Amy’s death, where he was serving a jail sentence for burgling a business to fund his addition.
She said: ‘He is devastated and shattered.
‘He just can’t take it in that she’s dead and he’ll never see her again.
‘Blake rang me on Saturday after the prison authorities told him she’d died.
‘I just couldn’t console him. He was in total shock.
‘Blake is the father of our son. But I saw him and Amy together and I know they were really in love and they were soulmates.
‘She always loved him and he always loved her – but it was just never going to work.
‘Basically they couldn’t live with each other and they could not live without each other.
‘It is hard for me knowing he still loved her, but I do understand his feelings.’
