Andy Dick has revealed the chilling first words he spoke after being revived from a near-fatal drug overdose.
While appearing on Jamie Kennedy’s Hate To Break It To Ya podcast, the 60-year-old comedian looked back on his brush with death, confirming that he was told his heart stopped and he stopped breathing before first responders intervened.
When Kennedy asked whether he technically died before being revived, Dick didn’t hesitate.
‘That’s what they say,’ he replied. ‘They say my heart stopped. And I stopped breathing. And they had to use that stuff, Narcan.’
Moments later, Dick stunned listeners by revealing what he said when he regained consciousness.
‘When I sat up,’ he recalled, ‘I said, ‘Where’s the vodka?’

The shocking admission comes just one week after Dick officially checked out of rehab, six weeks after reluctantly admitting himself to the Harlow Gardens residential treatment center in Palm Springs.
Back in December, the troubled star entered a rehabilitation facility in the Palm Springs, California area following a public health scare that reignited concern about his long-running battle with addiction.
At the time, TMZ reported that Dick was in good spirits during phone calls, describing him as ‘animated’ and ‘cracking jokes,’ while also expressing gratitude for getting help.
His decision to seek treatment came just days after disturbing photos surfaced showing the actor slumped over and unresponsive on a Hollywood street corner, prompting friends to rush to his side and call 911.
Dick has been candid for years about his struggles with substance abuse. In 2012, he admitted to repeatedly cycling in and out of rehab facilities while battling cocaine and alcohol addiction.
The comedian has credited longtime friends Jenny Gimenez and her husband, Tim, with saving his life during the most recent crisis.
‘Jenny Gimenez is my sister who saved me with Tim,’ Dick previously told TMZ, noting that both are sober.
The trio have been close friends for more than two decades, and Dick appeared alongside Gimenez on Celebrity Rehab back in 2008.

Jenny and Tim shared that Andy received a ‘full ride scholarship offer’ thanks to their connections with the center, meaning he won’t have to pay for his stay himself.
Dick had been adamant about not seeking professional help in a conversation with TMZ, just two days prior.
When asked if he had any plans to go to rehab, he said, ‘F**k no.’
Dick revealed that he had smoked crack cocaine before his frightening apparent overdose in a video.
While speaking to TMZ, the comedian at first acted confused about the disturbing photos showing him slumped over on the streets of Hollywood, but he soon claimed to have smoked drugs with a man that he found on the street.
Dick, who was slurring his words heavily, defended his drug use by admitting, ‘I don’t mind doing a little crack every now and then.’
In a statement to the Daily Mail, Dick’s attorney said he had recently spoken to his client, who was ‘doing great,’ and he added that they were ‘investigating’ the incident.
In a statement to People, the Los Angeles Police Department and Fire Department shared that Dick had been ‘taken home by a friend’ after his overdose scare.

‘I can confirm that we did respond to the intersection of Highland and Yucca at the 7-Eleven at 3:14 p.m. for a 59-year-old male,’ a spokesperson for the LAFD said, though they withheld a name due to HIPAA laws. ‘But we did respond to that location for an overdose. He was not transported to the hospital.’
The LAPD’s statement added that police had responded to the scene over the ‘medical emergency issue.’
Dick, who’s best known for starring in the NBC sitcom NewsRadio and for appearing in Ben Stiller’s hit comedy Zoolander before a string of legal issues and drug problems, was joined by two men he called his friends in the new video, one of whom confirmed that Dick was administered Narcan, a medication that can reverse opioid overdoses.
Notably, Narcan wouldn’t reverse the effects of crack use, as cocaine is not an opiate. However, fentanyl, an extremely powerful opiate drug, is sometimes mixed in with other drugs.
Fentanyl itself can also be smoked on aluminum foil, similar to the drug that Dick described.

In June 2021, the actor was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly attacking a male partner with a metal chair. Dick also made his $50,000 bail after that altercation.
In 2019, the actor was sentenced to 14 days in jail after being convicted of sexual battery for allegedly squeezing a woman’s rear end. However, he was released after a single night due to overcrowding.
The troubled grandfather-of-two originally got his big break through his buddy Ben Stiller (R, pictured in 2012) who cast him in Fox sketch show The Ben Stiller Show, Reality Bites, The Cable Guy, Permanent Midnight, Zoolander and Zoolander 2
Dick’s estranged wife, Lena Sved, received a domestic violence restraining order against him in 2018, which required him to move out of their home and remain 100 yards away from her and their adult children: Lucas, 37, Jacob, 31, and Meg, 27.
In 2012, Dick was arrested for allegedly grabbing a 17-year-old girl’s top and pulling it down to expose her breasts.
He was later found with marijuana and pleaded guilty to misdemeanor drug and battery charges, for which he was sentenced to three years of probation.
